Driving 1200km straight
a. I also like a radar detector on a long trip. No not to speed but to play mental games to pass the time. The detector beeps - Play Try to spot the cop.
b. If its cold outside, roll the windows down. Its next to impossible to fall asleep when it is freezing.
c. A small pillow is great for thigh support. Switch right and left foot on the accelerator.
d. Drink plenty of fluids. Bring along a couple of wide mouth bottles to relieve yourself.

I have never seen a cop on the Coquihalla. I know they like hwy 97 east of Merritt. They also like to make up speeds. My gf was going 120 with me in the passenger seat and the cop said 140. What do you do? Drive 2.5 hours to a court in Merritt to just have the cop say that she was going 140? Argghh. Small town cops.

I'm much smarter now.. only drive too fast on the rest of the hwy now
You'll be fine. Take plenty of good music with you and take breaks whenever possible.
Two summers ago, I drove 2,100 miles (3,360 km) in 36 hours. You'll be surprised at how refreshed you'll feel after just a 15 minute fuel stop.

I've done the Ottawa- Nelson BC (4 hours from Van city) atleast 6 times now, the last two were by myself. I honnestly enjoyed that 2900+ km drive everytime......
To give you an idea.....
I drove Ottawa via the nothern route (Thunder Bay) to Winnipeg in one shot... slept in my car at the Tim Hortons parking lot for 1 hour. Got up, and drove the rest of the way to Nelson in another leg.... Took me 32 hours in total!
That was when I was younger, and if I'd have to do it again, I'd scheduel 2 over night stops along the way.
