Talking Should I get the dealer $15k Intermediate Service?

Hello all. I am leasing a 2004 350Z. I just passed 20k miles and dealer says I am due for a $15k Intermediate Service. It is $199, includes oil change, air filter, brake cleaning, reset of electronics, etc.

I can replace the air filter of course, check all fluids, and remove front wheels and clean the brakes, but I have no idea of what to lubricate / grease. I regularly get oil changes anyway, but I am due for another.

My front brakes are getting noisy, but I was just about to take off the wheels, clean and make sure no sand, etc.

So The Question - Do you think I should do this service for $199? Do they lubricate / grease? If I take off the battery cables overnight, is that the same reset as what they would do? Any info?

Thanks!
Rob

Wow. You'll be saving $14,801.

brake cleaning - I have never cleaned my brakes. When I step on the brake peddle, doesn't that clean the brake pads?

reset of electronics -

I asked the service rep at the local Nissan dealership in Vegas that very same question. He told me (very suprisingly) to save my money and just take it to Firestone or something of the sort.

30k is a different story though.

Local repair shop for 15,000 mile was $73.00 for me. I took in the check list and that was including 5 1/2 quarts synthetic.

$199 for an oil change and a new air filter? Unless the air filter is made out of gold or something, thats a rip off. Get the oil changed somewhere else, and if you need a filter, buy one from an autoparts store. cleaning brakes? reset electronics? I dont think you need that. Good luck!!

I'll do the routine check on your car for only $11 K, plus I'll enough fill it up with washer fluid.

Total steal.
