Really hard to keep it under 4k rpm during break-in
I now have almost 600miles on my car, and its getting really hard to keep it under 4k rpm. I think about 5 times now Its gone to 5krpm, I put the shift light at 3700 so that helps most of the time... but do you guys think I've damaged the engine or anything? I'm really trying to keep the revs down..but sometimes It just gets the best of me.. Let me know guys.. I havent taken anywhere near redline.most its gone must be a little past 5k..

no your fine. no ones even been able to prove any benifit by "breaking it in".
but they recommend it, and it helps to get you aquanted with the car before you push it. so its worth while. your fine tho. in my break in I accidently spun the tires in a turn, the car was new so I didnt realize that the tires would just spin to redline, so I bounced it off the limiter 5 or 6 times before putting the clutch in and reeling it back in. I keep the VDC on more now.

After 600 miles is OK to go above 4K RPM. You don't want to baby the engine through the ENTIRE break-in. Slowly increase the RPM's. At 600 Miles don't be afraid to keep it under 5K RPM instead of 4K RPM. You want the engine to see higher RPM's during the later stages of break-in. As you get closer and closer to 1200 miles, keep increasing the maximum RPM's. Just be sure not to red line the engine during break-in.
