Default disable shift light in 6th gear?

Has anyone discovered a way to make the shift light not work when in 6th gear?

My Z chick drives the car to work everyday. We set the light for optimal gas mileage for her daily drive. The problem is that when she gets much over 70 mph the light comes on and drives her crazy. Obviously when she's in 6th she doesn't need to shift again so it seems useless for the light to operate then.

Set the rpm rev meter at 8000 rpm, that way it'll never blink again.
(unless ur at 8000rpm )

Guess you missed the part about setting it for optimal MPG.

Turn the car off and the light will quit blinking. You can also turn the car off while driving so you can take the key out of the ignition to lock your glovebox behind the seat. Worked for me after I saw Mr. Orficer yesterday.

Speed limit in my state is 70 MPH. Go less than that and you're a traffic hazard.

I find that 65 gets me the best MPG, may not be fun, may get you dirty looks but Ill be laughing all the way to the bank! I find it funny that all these people here in sunny CA whine about the gas prices, then zoom around at 80+. No way, heck 1/4 tank lasts me for a week!, so yea I have my light set for 4K that way I can still have a little fun but will hardly ever set it off in 5th or 6th. Most of the time anyway Ive heard that its better if you accelerate to cruising speed somewhat quicker(not redlining it ) than driving like a granny, just my methods and the pic speaks for itself

MoJ, the solution is simple. Nobody needs a shift light to drive economically. No offense, but that's just absurd and silly. Do you think honda civics have shift lights? If you're driving economically - you should be shifting so early & quickly that the shift light should never even be a factor. It's mainly just to keep you from banging into the rev-limiter when driving aggressively. Set it to redline where it should be - problem solved.

Tell her to learn to drive economically without the need for an idiot-light.
