Question Another Darn Oil Thread

I just did my first oil change in my new z. Not too bad. I went to Royal Purple and I was reading in these threads, that after your first oil change you should change it again after 1000 miles. I think this is what I read. Maybe not. I dont understand why they say to change it only after 1000 miles. I am thinking it is to make sure that all of the original oil is removed. Is this true or did I read wrong??? Thanks guys for all of the info on oil changing. Made it harmless. I changed my engine oil after only 1500 original miles. I think I F-ed up and should have waited till a few thousand miles. Too late now.

P.S. And with all of the arguments on Gear and Tranny oil how will I ever decide which one is right for my car? Everyone says something different. ERRR

LMAO, that sh*t is funny....

as far as liquids for your ride you need to match them with your driving style, if you drive hard then use heavier oils(royal purple of course) in the summer months(40w-50w) thicker oil will provide better protection under extreme driving and will not thin as bad as a lighter oil, of course you will sacrifice a lil mpg....... in the winter you could back down to a 30w, hard driving means more frequent oil changes, but since you love your car so much that is not an issue....the opposite applies if you drive like a granny, which i do not believe because you bought a Z...............personally, I use a straight grade in my car....40w in the summer, 30w in the winter......

No you were correct to change your oil at 1,500 miles, because it's new.
I will be changing mine also as soon as I hit 1,500 miles.

Ill be changing my oil to RP in a few days before I drive to the east coast. In Cali esp southern I dont think you need to worry about changing weights since its pretty constant year round. I havent been.
