Uh...I've never heard any rev from anyone next to me when they wanted to race. Here in LA, people drive so fast you'd assume they're taunting you.

One guy posted that all the gears are spinning, what does that mean and at what speed? Like if you're going 30 in 3rd, all the rest of the gears are spinning, wouldn't the fluid in there overheat or something?...kinda confusing

And regarding someone wanting to race..they just do a flyby with their spooled turbo and blast the BOV right next to me..then slow down, lol. My Z has no ***** for those cars though

He posted a link for you to educate yourself. howstuffworks.com

I suggest you at least attempt it.

You’d have to see how the tranny is built.

Basically, for each gear you have 2 gears (this sounds confusing. Let’s say ratio 1 for first gear and gear will be for the actual tooted gears okay?). So for each ratio you have two gears spinning together. On of the 2 is locked to one shaft and the other is free wheeling around the other shaft.

When you engage ratio 1, you are moving a synchro that locks the freewheeling gear to it’s shaft. Torque can then go through to the wheels.

In all the other ratio, one gear is permanently locked to a shaft, and the other is freely spinning on the other shaft. They all turn at what ever rpm the engine would be in that gear for a given wheels speed (mph).

Thanks for explaining
Another thing just popped in my mind, when i'm in any gear, even 5th at like 2000 RPM, and I let off the gas, the car starts to slow down dramatically, especially moreso when you're in 3rd @ like 2500 RPM. I really like using 3rd to slow myself down to a complete stop, lol. Is this a manual trans type issue? I wonder what the A/T Z feels like?
