Options for filling the cubby hole?
<Dons Flame Suit>
I haven't had the opportunity to search yet and don't want those striped blue face guys coming after me but here goes....
I'm thinking about having a rear mounted camera installed when I begin replacing all the factory stereo equipment and wanted to know if that cubby where the nav screen goes in the higher end trim models would work for this.
Why? Because I regularly have to travel through an area where the Police are a bit too "overzealous" with issuing tickets. It's hard as hell to see out of the back mini window and luckily I've been able to make out the silhouette of the sirens on their cars as they follow behind making sure you don't go 1 mile over the speed limit. I don't drive excessively fast, crazy or show off in my car, but I also don't like being unfairly targeted by cops who view me as an easy ticket either.
Have any of you done something similar? If so, please include the specs and whether or not it works for you. Thanks

Many 7" LCD screens will fit in the factory cubby... however you lost me with the rearview camera, overzeolous cops, 1mph over, mini back-window, silhouettes, etc.
Is your intent to see the cops behind you? I'd think this is what the rearview and sideview mirrors are for?
or
Record the cops chasing you? If so, my question is how will the camera also record your speed so you can prove you were not speeding?
Hmm... I'm confused, but yeah, a 7" LCD (one specifically made by Farenheit) will fit perfectly in that cubby with no modification. Search Audio/Video forums to see someones install...

Sweet set-up Paul. I'm trying to unload my Pioneer AVH-5700 Motorized DVD to do the single DIN dvd and farenheit screen setup...
What did you use to mount the Farenheit in the cubby? Double sided tape? Screws? or nothing because it "fits like a glove"?

^^ lmao.
Or just leave the cubby door closed? A rear-view camera would have to be uber hi-res for it to be even remotely useful whlie driving. As a backup cam, they're fine. But to see a cop a ways behind you? No way.
