Whoever said the Z is more practical is an idiot...Having a smaller trunk and no back seats is more practical... Anyways, I have always loved both cars, the Z and the G, to me, both cars are f*cking beautiful. But lets be real, you get more for your money with the G. Way better quality interior, back seats ( could be very helpful in an emergency ), a quite usable trunk, a sunroof, and overall more amenities. After all, the Z was based off the Skyline 350GT (Infiniti G35) and not the other way around. They are basically the same car, and you still get the same driving experience, just the Z is a lil rougher than the G. To me, the G has plenty of sportyness, our exhausts are actually louder than Z's (me and my friend tested this), handles very well for a car its weight and size, decently quick, and its classy at the same time. Ive been complimented many times on my cars all out sexyness by old farts who know nothing about cars, and im sure it happens all the time with the Z. Its all personal preference....as it has been previously stated. Would you like a slightly quicker, better handling car, sacrificing back seats and a smaller trunk, or do you want more luxury, comfortableness with more amenities...?

Hahahaha. Unique? You are talking about mass produced cars that cost $25K-$42K. There's nothing unique about that. These car are like arseholes and everyone has one. Chit people that can't really afford them have them. Have you noticed how many "How do I save gas threads" or "what's the cheapest best mod?" Usually these threads are started by people who are living BEYOND their means. Sure they can afford the car, but they have to think about if they really want to drive down the street cause they won't have money for gas tomorrow. Just cause you can afford something doesn't really mean you can afford it if you know what I mean.

I say go drive both cars and buy the one you like most. *** what everyone else thinks. They will mostly likely tell you to get what they have.

Oh and exoctic? Please! A fuking Ferrari is exoctic not a fuking Nissan or Infiniti.

Both the Z & G are great cars, can't go wrong with either one.

The reason I picked to the Z over the G is because of the following:
- There are a lot less Z than G on the road (At least in Canada, don't know about the US), when I spend $50K+ (CAD) on a car, I want something that's more rare and will get more attention
- I don't need back seat and big trunk
- 350Z looks better than the G35 to me and the G looks to longggggggg with the back seat.
- Z has a long history of cars going back to 1969

Good luck

back seat---no back seat---that is the question....because other than that, there is really not that big a difference insofar as mechanics, technology and soforth, they are both well built, sporty and attractive cars....I am 37 so it is not an "old/young" thing, there was no doubt I was buying a Z, never considered a G because I knew what I wanted.....but again, the question remains, back seat---no back seat---

I have had both cars, and they are equal in my opinion. The are pros and cons for each. The Z feel sportier, but the G performs well also. They are both beautiful cars. They are not that different. I think the Z is only weighs 200-300 lbs less than the G too.

I don't have enough money to afford both, so I have a G. If I could afford 2 cars, I would probably have the Z instead, but I need the back seat for the occasional emergency.

The Z's plastic interior looks much cheaper. the G has much more "luxurious" interior than the z but it doesn't look as sporty as the Z inside and out.

One reason I bought a Z instead of a G35 is because $30k for a car was my personal limit as a 24 year old, and I would rather buy a brand new 2006 Z for $28k than a two year old used G35 for similar price.

Someone addressed the exhaust note volume between both cars. I imagine the G35 will be slightly louder on say a zero to sixty run because the same engine has to haul more weight to reach the same speed. But I think the Z will get there a bit quicker.

Regarding exterior styling stock vs. stock, I think the front end on the Z is mean looking, while the back end does nothing for me. The back end to me looks too lifted from the ground, and maybe even larger tailights would have helped. The G35c on the other hand has one of the best rear ends on any car today in my opinion (especially when equipped with the factory wing option) and the large, flat LED tailights are awesome. BUT, the front end looks way too wussy when compared to the back end. The headlight lenses kind of stick out from the surrounding surfaces and it could have used less curviness and more rigid lines.

Speaking of headlights, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that 2006 is the first year that the G35 got projector HID headlights. Previous years had reflector type HIDs which still have a nice white color, but you don't see the sharp cutoff/flicker that nicer HID systems offer. I'm picky about headlights so this was important to me.

I never learned much about the G35's different trim packages, but I gather that they all come with leather. I personally prefer my 'sport cloth' in the Z because it doesn't really react to different temperatures like leather. If you live somewhere like I do in Pennsylvania where you experience all 4 seasons, leather might me a pain in the *** (pun not intended).

Another thing I considered is what modifications I could see myself doing to each car....and what would be the total cost of the car plus modifications when all is said and done in both cases. With the Z I could add, say, nice wheels and tires, coilovers, and a decent stereo system and get to the factory price point for a G35...or ride in a bone-stock G35.

Then as someone mentioned there is the issue of image. While it doesn't seem out of place to see a mid-twenties person driving around a G35, to me it seems more appropriate to see them in a Z. Although if you work at a company in a position where professional, up-standing image is important maybe you would rather be seen stepping out of your Infiniti than your Nissan. Although I will tell you that my boss really likes my Z....because he had one when he was out of college (not sure which model) and he remembers what it's like to be young and care-free.

Good luck man. As others have said, you will not be disappointed by either vehicle.

i have a G.
i love my G and have no regrets. based on my timeline and the 04G and 04Z i would make the same decision again

if i had to make the decision now however, i would go with a Z.
you can get a base level Z for like 26k maybe 27k if you also want cruise control, lsd, tcs. either way you get xenons and the same look outside: wheels, led lights, xenon projectors and all, vs higher trim Zs (except brembo).

imo thats a great value because its something like $5k less than a g35 these days (correct me if i am wrong)

at that point, yes you sacrafice a little on interior quality and the back seat, but you get more sportyness.... and at a 20% discount. imo if you're up in the air that should do it.

of course there are a number of other differences including resale value, warranty terms, # seats, features, etc but thats what i would do if i had to do something right now.

fwiw, within 12 months both cars will be completely replaced

im debating weather or not i want a G35 or 350. I was hoping the young owners would tell me their opinion. I only say this due to a unanimous opinion on another forum that G35=older 350=younger. But actually I would like to here everyones opinions. so heres the question...now that you have the 350z, would hav gone back and got the G35 for the luxury and sacrifice some sportiness?
I WOULD NOT TRADE MY 350Z FOR ANYTHING BUT I WAS ALSO LOOKING AT A G35 BUT LIKED THE 350Z MORE

Is the G35 really louder than the Z? I heard one the other day here in my neighborhood and it sounded louder to be honest, but i havent been behind my car either.

my biggest problem is that the 350z is only a 2 seater, i think thats why most younger people have it. they dont need to carry as much people as to an older man with a family. the 350z is basically a cheaper version of the g35.
