Default It finally happened.

lol... after more than 2 years scratch/dent free on my daily driver... I finally got a door ding at a friends apartment complex.

It messed the paint up a little and left two unsightly dents. I'm almost certain the person who did it did it on purpose because there was no reason for it. The night it happened I heard someone getting into their car and a loud thump and then a door shut.

Good thing I always make a mental note of the cars that I have to park next to, and I remember exactly what the car looked like. The dents on my door are as good as a fingerprint as well. I really doubt the person who did it lives at this place because I'm pretty sure they did it on purpose and someone wouldn't do something like that if they might have to face the music.

All I can say is if I see that car again I hope they have AAA.

Does anyone have any tips or good links on removing dents? Any experience? If you had them professionaly removed how much did it cost? The dents aren't very large in diameter and I don't think one of those suction things would work. I would probably have to go from the inside of the door. I have a FOAF who does paintless dent repair but getting ahold of him will be difficult. Any suggetsions?

Sorry to hear that. Damn haters!!!

Cost would depend on how much the paint was damaged, and to what extent you want to go to repair/remove the dent. You can get a paintless dent removal service done for ~$80 or so here in Cali, and can use some touch up paint to cover up the blemishes if they're not very large. An auto body shop would probably quote you $400 or so for a spot repair and repaint.

Sorry to hear it man. I had a guy tell me to try placing a piece of dry ice on a small dent (like a hail dent). Cold things expand and the general thought I guess is that it will cause the metal to expand and just pop the dent back out. I have not tried it. Does anyone know if this works? Or if it is safe on the paint job?

if your in good terms with your local nissan dealer, may be they can help. The dealers retain their own private paintless dent technician on call, they may be able to offer the service to you at cost.

Paintless dent removal guys can do amazing things these days, and they're pretty affordable. If the damage to the paint is just surface damange, once they re-level the metal they can buff out the scratch. I've seen some dents that I would swear were going to require some serious work just disappear in the hands of a talented PDR specialist.

^--cosign...if I can help it I never park right next to someone...I always park in the back far from everyone(because people are lazy and hate walking so they always park up front). I know I drive a nissan not a ferrari but I don't care...I prefer not to have my car backed into, scratched, dented, vandalized, etc.

sorry to hear about your car getting dented...especially if they did it on purpose. I hope you catch the person.

Yeah, sorry to hear about the dent. Man, I have a door ding on my passenger side. This dimple is killing me. It's like my eyes are drawn to it whenever I look at that side of the car. It probably doesn't jump out to most people, but since I know where it is it always catches my eye!!!
