Default Lost Key and fob, how much to replace?

My dealer quoted me $361!!! Including 1 1/2 hours to program. This strikes me as TOTALLY ridiculous. Is this even close? I know the key is like $60 and the fob $75 or so. Can it cost $225 to program? No way ...I also have the key number for my keys. Can I order direct from Nissan with the key number and would I receive it programmed and ready for use?

Thanks for any info.

Todd

Ebay for fob.

Call several dealers for the key questions.

Ebay...you can get one for like $20, but reprogramming is something else. Try to do a search on the forum...I lost mine before too, but dealer sent me another for free.

Yeah, pick one up off Ebay; that's what I did. Just make sure you get the right one. Reprogramming is easy; I forget how to do it now, but seach around here or on Google; the instructions are out there.

it does not take 1.5 hours to program the key.

Just tell them you know they can do it in 15 min with the consult-II and to stop trying to rip you off.

If you want I will dig up the steps and key strokes on the consult to do this so you can prove that it only takes 15 min, if that. All they need is consult-II and the security programming card. All Nissan service depts have this.

Be sure to take ALL your keys and remotes as they will all have to be present once programming starts.

No Consult II needed to program fob; just follow the steps Yorbi posted above. Very easy, takes ~1 min.

For key, yes, Consult II is needed and I don't know if you can get a chipped key blank off Ebay or not. Performance Nissan can likely do you much better on the price for one, though.

Guys, thanks for the replies...it's not the Fob that's troubling, I know that I can do that...thanks for that Yobri!...it's the key. I KNOW it can't take 1 1/2 hrs...a blind, retarded imbecile could get it done in that time, I figure. Vandy, Must, 350z00m, thanks for the info on key programming. Vandy, if you can come up with the programming steps, that would be great for I could show it to the service manager and tell him not to screw me anymore. I hate getting 'forked' by these yoyo's!
