What do you guys think? Click on the link below and see what you think. I can't really say if the guy is BSing or not, but maybe some of you guys that are more knowledgable about engines can comment on this.

I have run every engine in every car/racecar/and motorcyle I have ever had very hard right from the start. The results have always been faster than average vehicles.

That site lends creedance to my theory that our engines are probably broken in on the dyno at Nissan, since the best way to seal the rings is to run it hard (methodically) within the first 20 miles of operation, I'm sure that this is done at the factory before the engines are dropped into the cars. In which case it really wouldn't matter how hard you run the engine once you get the car, no matter what the mileage is on the odometer. Still, I plan to take it easy on the car for the recommended break-in period. (I've already cheated a couple of times... lol)

I totally agree with "Mototune dude". The rings on 4 stroke engines must be run hard to seal correctly. I have run my gixxer this way and pumped out 123 rear hp on my 750. My friend's 7 which was bought at the same dealer did a "manual break-in" and pumped out 117.5, same dyno same day! This is just an example....but I've heard this all my life and from other racers...run it in hard and your'll be happy.
I plan to run in my new car this way too!

I don't want to argue either way about the VQ until I see some dyno numbers for both and some longevity figures for both (won't have any for years, admittedly).

I am always amazed at how people seem to think that they need an extra 5 HP by driving the engine like a BOH right from the start, but don't seem to think that they might need an engine to last a long time. None of the people who say to "break it in like you race it" have ever documented in a true, scientific test just how long their engines last.
For me, I don't need an extra 5 HP. (If I did, I would have bought a car with a bigger engine or I'd be dropping in mods.) I need the engine to last a long time. There's more to breaking in an engine than just having the rings seal. By tomorrow my Z will be broken in per Nissan's recommendations. But, hey. I'm just a mechanical engineer. If you're more qualified, go for it.
