Default 350Z vs. 07 Camry

I was going to buy a 06 base black Z mt, but I wanted to be sure I want a Z. So I test drove 2 Zs (mt and at), a 06 maxima, and other cars like civic and etc. Then I looked outside the window and saw 07 camry v6 XLE. Sticker was $32k and I thought it looked nice.. I thought I should test drive it. WOW! this is camry?? It feels really fast and feels like driving a Lexus.. Everything is automatic. pushbutton start, nav, keyless auto open/lock, strong engine... Sound coming out of speakers is really loud and clear.. It was as fast as Z and faster than a maxima (I think). I want it. But I also want a Z.. Man!! I cant decide now.. Asking price of 07 camry was about $29k.. Z base was $27k. Z enth auto was $28.8k..

Dear Mr. Bush,
I think you should be looking at upgrading your chopper or aircraft, not a measly Z or even a camry. LOL

On the real side, the camry is definately an upgrade from the previous generation (well except the rims)..and the pics you posted are nice as well.
The Z's just a 2 seater, more ponies, sportier looking, handling, etc. The camry well has all but those mentioned to some extent. Go with your gut feeling, I'm sure you'll make a right choice. Again, camry's a good 4 door, reliable, and lexus like..just rebadge it lol

do what I do....drive both....but then again, I own my Z....but I work for a Toyota dealership, so during the day I drive any Toyota or Scion i want, and at night, I drive my Z...oh yeah...the Z hands down

honestly, my eye is on the Acura TL....I love everything about it except the front wheel drive....if the current model TL is a RWD, I'd be all over it...

Agree. Has back seats, can be used a family vehicle. Small family.

you cant compare a car that should have been replaced already with one that *just* came out. to be fair, compare the next Z with the Camry.

If you are considering 4-door cars with decent power and appearance, and around $30k, you might also look at the Mazdaspeed6. It's a 4-cylinder, 2.3L turbo with AWD (though it's electronically actuated AWD on-demand, not full-time like Suby). I believe peak engine power output is rated up around 280 HP, but I'm not sure what the torque output is. The only reason I'm suggesting it is because my previous car was a mazda6 (6-cylinder, non-turbo) and I really, really liked that car. Amenities were nice, fit/finish/materials were top-notch. It felt like a much more expensive car. The only thing it neede was rear wheel drive and a bit more power...which is where the mazdaspeed6 comes in (AWD instead of RWD, but nice nonetheless). The reason I didn't seriously consider one of these is that I already owned one variety of mazda6, and if I was going to plop down a large downpayment and start making payments on a new car I wanted it to be something totally different. But for you, it may be worth checking out.

Toyota: v6 268hp, 248lbs trq, 3495lbs, FWD, 5-seater, old-man-sedan
Nissan: v6 300hp, 278lbs trq, 3339lbs, RWD, 2-seater, sports car

if you are looking for a decent, reliable, and quick car, go with the Toyota.
if you are looking to have a bit of fun, go with the Z.

get the camry, it looks better, sounds meaner, is faster in the 1/4 mile, is front wheel drive (better for driving in the snow), has a sunroof, and handles better than a Z.

the camry beats the Z in every category except maybe gas mileage. plus the camry is a toyota, that means its much higher quality.

ever heard of a camry getting tire feathering issues? thought so.
go with camry.

Camry has the same motor as the new is350. Great power plant, but too bad its fwd. In my opinion if your looking at a 32k Camry you should step it up the the is350 level. Invoice on them is right around that same price range and you get one hell of a car for the money. My friend has one and is a test car for big Lexus parts developer, with just an intake and no tune he was putting down 296whp in his 06 is350. Damn good numbers if you ask me.

Currently own an '05 Camry. Owned 2 Camrys before this one. Great cars!

But is a 4 door sedan grocery getter. Actually, its really my wifes (the accountant) car.

It is not in the same class, or even serve the same purpose as a 2 passenger high performance sports car.

I considered the G35 before I bought the Z, but I didn't need another sedan, I already had really good one. If you want a sports car, buy the Z, if you want a 4 door sedan, buy the Camry.

I work at a toyota dealership. The new camry I think feels slow, and handles like crap. I extensively tested this car by beating the **** out of it obviously since it was not my car and i didn't care about it. Take the Z man.

RWD > FWD

But if you are even considering the Camry I have a feeling the Z will be a little rough around the edges for you... The has a stiff suspension and you will hear more road noise in the cab than a regular car. You might want to check out a used g35 or g35c.

Lexus minus RWD... I could never see myself spending more than 25k for a FWD car.

This is like asking if I should eat an apple or orange? If you have to ask the Z is OUT. Get the IS350 or TL.
