350Z>07 Camry. I wonder which car is set for car pooling and which car is bound for fun.

True... but the guy who posted it would cost 38k is way off. Fully loaded, the G should be around 42k.

We are both talking about the Z coupe and G coupe right? The roadster wouldnt count since Infiniti doesnt have a convertible version of the G

GTFO of this forum. Camry's are gay as ****. THey are faster than old Camry's but as fast as the Z is a huge stretch. If you would even consider getting a Camry over the Z, you shouldn't get the Z.

low 14.3 for Z and 14.8 for camry.. both @99 mph.. I c no performance difference. Also 0-60 is faster for Z @ 5.6 sec. and 6.7 for camry. But I know that Z was launched @ high rpm. Camry is auto w/ smaller tires. I should also say that camry has plenty of low end torque.. Z needs a bit more rpm for more torque. But yes, Z looks better and I'm getting a Z. Just need to save a bit more for downpayment. If you havent driven camry, you should.. It really is as fast as Z. After driving both, I feel Z is overpriced.. You get more per $ w/ camry. but I think Z looks cool.. and that's all that matter.

Why don't you do what I did buy both cars you that you want? Compromise always does not make everyone happy. According to Consumer Reports the Z is much faster than the Camry.

there is more to a car than straightline acceleration....

that's what differentiates the z33 and the new camry.

are you guys kidding? who cares if a camry is almost as fast as a Z. there are SUV's out there almost as fast as a Z, there are saabs out there almost as fast as a Z, hell there are even Volvos as fast as a Z, but guess what??

those other cars out there can never take corners or handle like a Z. they could never accelerate out of a corner and speed down the road like a Z.
they will never look as good as a Z, and they will never be as fun as a Z...

my mom just purchased an 07 camry, its a 4 cylinder 2.4 liter automatic. its white and its fabulous. It is roomy, interior is great, truck space is larger than previous camry's, it is one of the best Camry's yet... but compared to my Z??? no freaken way i'd take the camry.

If you're comparing a Z to a camry, just get the camry.... face it, you need the camry for your kids and family, get the camry, be like everyone else.

out of all the "good" mid priced 25-30k sedans out there I think Camrys are probably one of the worst in terms of performance. I mean you can be damn sure you can drive that sucker for 250k+ miles without any problems but it doesn't exactly have that "zoom zoom zoom" factor imo...

i'm assuming u're talking bout the 3.5L camry which makes 248lb-ft @ 4700rpm whereas the Z makes 274lb-ft @ 4800rpm. 100rpm difference is hardly anything.

i dunno how accurate ur times are, but just taking those times (14.3 vs 14.8, 5.6 vs 6.7) yes, they were launched differently blah blah, there's got to be something seriously wrong with u, to claim that the camry is as fast as the Z. and that's just on a straight. when u get to a turn, would u still say it's as fast as a Z??

and u're saying the Z is overpriced?!?!? dude, "Z" and "overpriced" shouldnt even be in the same sentence. name any other car out there, that compares to the Z in terms of performance, looks, quality, reliability and practicality AND is cheaper. then come tell me that it's overpriced. if u think "Z looks cool.. and that's all that matter", then why the hell do u care so much about how fast they are?!??

no disrespect to the camry, i think it's the best one so far, but u just dont compare it to a Z. that is just wrong... WRONG!

I'll throw a monkey wrench in this whole discussion. Why not look into a slightly used car? You can pick up a very nice Lexus GS430 with very low miles for about the same cost as a new camry or Z. It drives like the camry but handles and goes like the Z, maybe even faster with its 320lbs/ft torque. It really is as reliable as the camry, and gas mileage is maybe slightly worse than the Z. The Mark Levinson stereo is the best in business.

So, why not?

Personally, I like the new 07 Camry SE V6. To me, it looks very sporty, and I like it better than the current Accord coupe. And if I ever needed a family car, I would trade in my Z if I had it.

I can relate to the original thread starter. I've been cross shopping for my next vehicle and they include a very large spectrum. I've been through so many cars, that I kind of want to settle down with just 1 for awhile, or maybe 2.
Here's a short list of my next replacements:
07 G35 coupe, I want to see what it'll be like, if it'll be similar as the concept.
07 Z, I want to see if there will be upgrades, anything major, new engine, new body, new ???.
07 C6 coupe, I can get one for invoice. Love the power and the looks.
07 Camry SE V6, why not? Personally, I like it. And I really don't care what others think. I'm not that self conscious.
07 Civic Si, I think they are fun little cars and it gets a decent gas mileage, better than the Z.
The new Miata, Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, or even another S2000. I would get one as a 2nd car.
07 BMW 3 series coupe. Can't go wrong with BMW.
new BMW z4 coupe, doesn't look too bad.
etc. etc. etc.

I think my problem is that I've either driven too many or owned too many sporty cars that I want something fun for my next car, but also want the extra amenities, but not too much weight, but want all the safety features, and want some decent performance with decent gas mileage and nice space to lug everything/everyone around, but don't want to spend too much, etc. And that's what leads me to all these different cars/x-shopping.

Just my 2 cents. (oh, and I thought uncut's comments were very amusing)

I drove a 2007 Camry with the "Big" 268hp motor and 5-speed automatic. What a slug. My wifes '05 Camry with a 2.4l four cylinder and a 5-speed manual felt sportier and not a whole lot slower.

Wow I thought all those Camrys that were attempting to race me were just kidding but now I realize, They are obviously pumping CRACK through the AC

Fast as the Z, Yeah ok, I see alot of Camrys takin out M3s and Porches. Also your times are bogus. Speed Magazine, sister to r&T had a stock Z at 5.1 to 60 and that was likely with VDC on. No diff in Performance??? R&T put a stock Z up against a 911 Targa, M3 and Corvette Z06 and the Z beat the 911 and M3 by 1 sec. Not only will you never see a Camry compared to such Vehicles but one would never stand a chance. My friend you inhaled too much CRACK on your Camry test drive. Now we know why they sell so many.

Seriously dude, all due respect, if you are considering a Camry and a Z you have other issues to deal with, thats like choosing between Jessica Alba and Florence Henderson, in every way. The Z is a SPORTS CAR. The Camry is a FAMILY car so no disrespect but get a clue and just by the Camry dude.

I saw a Girl driving a new Camry the other day but it said LEXUS VVTI on it, no other markings whatsoever, she cut in front of me and kept driving irratically like she was tryin to show me how fast her car was or some crazy ****, so I pulled up on the side of her and she looked over at me with the craziest hair weave I ever saw and I said "who do you think your kiddin, everyone knows thats just a Camry" She gave me a dirty look and when the light turned green she gunned it....it was the funniest s#!t ever....she got a good wiff of my firey exhaust...muahhhahhhahhahh

PLease just get the Camry dude. Zs are for people who would go as far as to order it from Japan with no test drive. An ENTHUSIASTS MACHINE. If you are gonna buy a Z there should be no question in your mind and if there were a question, the absoloute last alternative would not be a CAMRY. This is a shameful day in our wonderful community.

I mean...its a CAMRY, this is like hearing a Beatles song in a commercial for a financial institution...damn Michael Jackson...its just wrong Its like debating on Tofu or a giant hunk of Prime Rib with the MOO left in, or wether to get the new "TOOL" album or "John Denvers Greatest Hits". Dont get me wrong, John Denver was a fine singer song writer but you wouldnt be standing in Best Buy scratching your head over which disc to purchase.

You'll NEVER stand out in the crowd and NEVER get anything but a big azz YAWN from other drivers, if you buy a Camry.

Why? Because the Camry (like the Honda Accord) is the type of car that the mindless drones of our country buy.

What Toyota needs to do is scrap those ugly azz Scions and bring back the Supra (yes, I know it's coming out in the near future), MR2 (maybe some variation on the 93-94 model + the roadster), and Celica GTS with a damn turbo or V6 AND shorter shifter this time!! (although Celica isn't a true Sportscar...The last gen. looked nice, IMO).

I love imports especially Toyota and Honda. I've had both honda and toyota, my Z is my first experience with a Nissan. I allready knew what I was getting into with reliability factor. The Z to me was more of an inpulse buy before it is too late for me to get into a sports car or anything of the Z calibor. I agree that the new camery is alot better compared to the new accord, which I thought I would never say. My wife wanted a suv, but she likes the camery too. I rather get a car than suv, in comparasion to gas, handling, weight. I'll be getting a camery for her a couple models down the road, but only the sport edition, I think it looks sick, good sick. And for under $30K, why not, I'll puts some rims on it too even though she'll kill them in no time. Also if I had to trade my car because of family or finances, I'll trade it for a Camery.
