Uh, what are you talking about? He IS using the clutch.. he's just not letting go of the accelerator pedal. I do that too. It seems to reduce my times just a tad bit - about .05 seconds on the 1/4 track - when compared to speed shifting.

ey guys im just wondering because someone has told me this. they told me that shifting at redline is not the best way. he said that i should be shifting at my peak torque instead of redline so that way it can drop back at where i would have the most torque again.
sorry if its a noob question im jw.

Whoever told you that, I would not take their word for anything automotive in the future.

Max torque in a non-revup is at 4800RPM. Max power is at 6200RPM. Redline is at 6600RPM. Shifting at 4800 is extreme short shifting. You are seriously not taking advantage of the engines output and gearing by shifting that early, especially for maximum acceleration.

Shift at redline for maximum acceleration.
