Squeek coming from hatch

Squeek coming from hatch
Has anyone else had experienced a squeeking sound coming from the rear hatch area when going over a bump? I've noticed lately when driving down the interstate, that whenever I hit an expansion joint or a small patch in the road, there sometimes is a squeek from back there. It almost reminds me of the sound you get in the winter when you have ice around your weatherstripping/glass. I'm wondering if it might be the rear window Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. I'd rather not have to take it to the dealer if its something I can find/fix myself.

I know what the problem is, and I fixed it... sort of
The squeaking is coming from the plastic trim on the indisde of your hatch, the part that covers were the rear windshield wiper motor is. As soon as I took that plastic trim off, no more squeeking.
As for a fix, I've been lazy and haven't gone to the store to get some felt tape, figured I would put some felt tape on some area of the trim.
Believe me, take the plastic trim off the hatch and you will be so happy without that squeek. Good luck!

Since I really haven't "fixed" it yet, did you fix your squeek with some felt tape? Or are you just leaving the plastic trim off? That's what I am doing right now

I can tell you from experience it isn't from the plastic trim from the rear struts bar I took all the plastic trim off the rear struts bar and to my horror, I still had the squeeking noise. It was only when I took off the hatch cover did the squeeking noise go away.

You just saved me from a lot oh headache, I dont know why I assumed it was the strut. So do I have to remove it to make the squeak go away? Or can I just make sure its all tight or add some cushion inside? Thanks for the tip though!!!

I have the same problem with the hatch trim. I think it started to come off at one point, so now it squeeks when i hit any bump at all. So annoying.
How does it took without the trim anyways?
