Default Do you use the Triptronic

If you have an automatic do you use the triptronic? If you do use it about how often and under what conditions? Is there anyone out there that has never used it?

I use mine at least 50% of the time... I do it when I want to have more control of the shift points and when I want to keep the engine in the peak torque band..... mostly for exiting from a corner under power. If you had it in full auto during a corner and you enter the corner with some speed the tranny would most likely be in 3rd... once you apex and get on the throttle there'd be a delay while it shifts into 2nd.

By going into 2nd just as you enter the turn with tiptronic, you have the engine at it's optimal rpm already.... just hit the throttle on the exit and your good to go.

make's a huge difference.

I have found that when I take spirited drives that I have much more control of the car on winding roads with the triptronic. Seems like the car always wants to up shift. I also some times use it in traffic if say I can constantly keep the car in second and just coast. Keeps me from riding the brakes so much. I might say I use it 50% of the time if not more. Also helps in breaking quickly. Nice to have the ability to downshift for more stopping power. How happy are you with the responsiveness with the triptonic when you do want to down shift at high RPMS.

I think it works well for engine braking. I often will do that when slowing for a stop light.

Plus it sounds great when downshifting... you can fool most people into thinking it's a MT.

I use it most of the time. Its so much fun holding the gears. Dont have to deal with a clutch. Never miss a shift. AT has come a long way.

My mother has the equivalent in her Acura TL and I've driven an A4 with Tiptronic. I always think it's a great idea and I start out wtih it, but after a while, I always give up and just go back to the auto.

I think the system is a great advancement and it really does come close to a stick. If I were to get an automatic, I'd definitely want it, even though I don't seem to use it much.

It even more fun with a manual!

dont be afraid of the clutch!

AT has come a long way.. but nothing close to a real manual.... on a Nissan... SMGII is pretty close.

Default 90?

I use Tiptronic 90% of the time in my Audi. I use the clutch in my 350Z 100% of the time.

I use the manual mode 90% of the time, almost always in town and most of the time on the highway.
