My buddy has a boxster. I can beat him, stock for stock, in the straights but he leaves me in the corners.

I thought the boxster's handling wasn't any better.
We're talking a Carerra here.. not a Boxster.
You had better have some major skills and may want to consider lightening you car to help win the weight war (pretty close stock for stock). AWD drive will only help him in the corners and you need help in the straights AND the corners.
Unless he's a real doorknob he will have you unless you reduce weight and increase your HP and TQ (probably 50+). But then again, he should for $80K+.
If you drop 10K-15K in your car you will eat him alive which is pretty amazing.
But if you're talking one friendly race, do your best and get some good experience out of it. I prefer an underdog race anyway. If he wins, he's supposed to.. if you win, major bragging rights and you instill a little buyer's remorse in him.. hahaha...

Thanks,

Otherwise, his car is an unbelievably well-engineered monster...as per Walter Rohl.
Good luck anyway, and may the force be with you.

Thanks for all the input guys. To the above poster, yeah we do get to race on Laguna Seca, it's pretty dammed awesome. And yeah, this is a friendly race, this guy's a good pal of mine, so I'm not going to dump 15k into the car just for this race. We'll see how it goes, it's just interesting because on paper, the 2 cars aren't that much different. That really says something for what you get in a Z.

Sweet. Can you just go at certain times and pay to run the track or are you a member of a club or something? Man, I wish we had a good road course in the Houston area you could just go to and run w/o having to pay an arm and a leg in fees/dues...
