Recall Question???
My Z has never had a problem, its an 03 with 39,***.miles
I feel scared taking my z in and have Nissan mechanics tear into it to replace some whack A$$ hose.
Did all of you guys do this? Do some of you guys feel like me and dont feel its necessary because its running fine?
I heard if you dont replace it, the hose can start a fire!!!???
I guess I think that the replacement will go fine but the car will drive or feel diffrent, dont the mechanics have to take the fuel tank out completley?

Some on here are not going to take it in, although most probaby have had it done already... I've only heard of a few problems after the repair was done..
My brother took his in and it still runs fine... I was one of the lucky ones that had a 2004 and didn't need to bring it in for the recall
Make sure you have less then a 1/4 tank of gas when you go in...

Since it could be a fire issue I think it is absolutely nuts not to have it done.
I had mine done immediately. If you don't trust your dealer find another one.
Mine was replaced without a problem.

As someone on here already stated, there is about a 1 in 1,000,000 chance your car will catch on fire from the hose however there is about a 1 in 50 chance your car may get screwed up by Nissan.

If you wanted to make some aftermarket upgrades to the car where would you take it then? I'd like to get a higher quality brake setup and perhaps get a better exhaust system and thought I'd have these things done at the dealership since I was warned that only the 'special' Nissan mechanics should service my car.
A couple months ago I took the Z in for a routine oil change and the Service manager approached me and asked if they could replace the hoses per the recall.
I said "...go ahead..." and not only did I get re-hosed,they topped up my 1/2-full tank with high-test AND washed the car.
All this happened in just two hours, which I spent test-driving a new Maxima and eating all their Krispy Kremes.
Up until then,my Z had never burst into flame, and since then I am flame-free.

Well most aftermarket parts will not be covered by Nissan anyhow. Unless, you go the Nismo route.
At first I was very hesitant on getting the hose recall done. I waited until they got alot of experience. But why risk it? when its done for free? My dealer has done alot of Z recalls. In the end everything was fine and found out the hoses were fine. Build date is Sept 02.
I got it done and had the valve thing replaced that caused the fill up prob. No probs. whatsoever. If I didn't get it done it would always have lingered in the back of my mind whenever I would look at the car. So, I had to get it done, plus I can fill up the tank w/ out the pump stopping after 6 gallons
