Default does my car have a chip

i bought my z about 7 months ago its a 03 touring. When i bought the car it had nismo exhaust and im pretty sure that the previous owner took the original wheels off the car for aftermarket wheels because their isnt any type of road rash or anything present or he just took really good care of the car. I ask this question because it seems as if the previous owner was into aftermarket parts. I bought my car from a nissan dealership i was wondering where the rev limiter cuts you out on the non-revup motors because i can rev-up to 7,000 rpm before shifting and it doesn't cut out.

It is possible to have the rev-limiter raised, yes. There are a handful of companies in the country that can do it (and undo it if it bothers you, but I wouldn't worry about it).

well what does a non-revup motor usually rev-up to on the rpm band before it cuts out.

6600 RPM is the stock rev-limiter setting on your car. It is possible to go slightly over just based on inertia, but 7000, nah.

6600rpm. Even if your car does have a chip, your tachometer should show the redline ending at 6600rpm. Maybe you don't have a chip... maybe the previous owner disabled the rev limiter (is that even possible? lol)

Sounds like a technosquare reflash... it's not only possible... it's plausible...

Just to be technically correct, there is no "chip" for this car. You send your ECU off to the company (or drive to them if you're local), they reprogram the ECU and send it back.

The redline *begins* at 6600, but it's not the top of the gauge, so you could easily see 7000 RPM displayed.

You cannot disable the rev-limiter as it is implemented in software in the ECU, so the previous owner could only have disabled it by have a reflash performed.
