Be careful...just spin my Z
Freaken rear wheel drive. I was at the red light turning left. I decided to turn off my TCS (--> bad move) and had little hard acceleration out of the corner.
Light turned green, I stepped real hard comming out of corner, car lost traction and made 90 degree turn side way..... luckily I the other car on my left was little behind so I didn't hit anyone or the curb. phewwww.....be careful with hard acceleration out of the corner guys.

I think we've all had one of the traction control stories. Mine was when I first got mine. I was comming out of a turn in 1st, slammed 2nd and had my car turn sideways in 4 lane traffic. I corrected/over corrected....headed for a guard rail, corrected/overcorrected....headed for another car and finally straightened out. I couldn't drive for about an hour after the fact because my legs were shaking so bad I almost stalled it out everytime I started in 1st

It probably could have prevented some spin. I doubt it could have prevented all the spin though, you can still slide around corners with it on. I turn my tcs off most of the time. There is this corner that I normally like to skid around... tonight it was raining and I was not even thinking... Close call for the Z haha

I have a base model and I do this all the time for the fun of it. Atleast every other day. Just step on the gas as you apex the corner then counter-steer into the slide. It's easy as hell and no big deal...just looks cool if you do it smoothly. The only time I almost lost control was when I did a "shift-lock" drift going into the corner...I was carrying too much speed so as I slid around the corner I couldn't keep the car on the right side of the road so I slid all the way across the double yellow. It was at about 2am and there where no other cars in sight so I wasn't about to hit anyone. I need more practice and an LSD for drifting into corners and holding it all the way through. I'm really not all that interested in drifting but it can be fun and I get an andrenaline rush from it.
But to the OP if you would have counter-steered and stayed on the gas your car wouldn't have spun 90 degrees.

Some of you guys need to buy the "driver mod" to go along with all the aftermarket stuff on your Zs.
I've got TT and never really feel the car want to spin out. Maybe try rolling the throttle on rather than just on or off?

Of course rolling the throttle on will make it easier and smoother than just smashing the gas. It's also about knowing when your rear tires will loose traction so you know how much throttle is just enough.
A lil story....
I bought a '95 Mustang Gt as my first car when I was 18. That's pretty much when I started to have fun sliding cars but I do want to bring up one thing that's common sense but you have to look-out for. It's all fun and games to slide your car around a corner when YOU initiate the slide! However, as I found out 1 rainy day when I was 18 in my stang it's totally different if your car starts to slide on it's own! I was approaching an intersection about to make a left hand turn only going about 40mph when the rear-end slowly started to step-out. I didn't pay it much attention because like I said I would slide around corners all the time so I figured I'd just give it some gas and carry this slide through the corner...hahaha BIG MISTAKE! I gave it some gas and of course it started sliding like a champ but as I was exiting the corner I eased off the gas to allow the rear tires to hook-up they wouldn't hook. So I'm now sliding 90 degrees about to slam into the curb - I'm all the way off the gas and suddently the rear tires hook and the car fishtails like a **** - I tried to keep up with it by countersteering but it was just fishtailing too hard and too fast going from 90 degrees to the left back 90 to the right until I slammed into the curb got airborne and landed in the ditch! Luckily Mustangs are Ford tough and my car started back up and I was able to drive off with no damage. But the common sense lesson I learned was if the car starts to slide on it's own..it does not have any or enough traction for you to play with so just steer to recover and don't try to be fancy. I'm sure noone here is dumb enough to do that anyways so I didn't need to tell that story!...I hope

With the base model, I had to learn how the car feels when the rear-end breaks loose by inducing slides in open spaces.
I think even with VDC and TCS, Z drivers should find a way to get a feel of their car when the tires are at the limit of adhesion. You can't just put all faith on those driver nannies.

damn those wheels look really good on the z33. best lookin black z33 i've seen to date actually...so clean and simple.
if u predict the tail coming out and counter steer a bit and control the throttle u could save the car and have a little drift. i used to have so much fun doing stuff like this with my mr2 turbo. however keep this kinda **** off the streets....u dont want to end up hurting innocent drivers on the road, or destroying ur car/yourself.
