A friend of mine told me that since the door handle on the Z is vertical, the side rollers at the car wash might open the door when the conveyor belt rolls the car through. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

First of all you need to worry about more than just the door handle. those machine car washes beat the sh*t out of your car. My girlfriend is a cashier manager at CarSpa-(its a chain of carwashes in texas), and she was always telling me about customers complaining about snapped anttenas, door scratches, and dents. I really paid no mind to the sh*t she told me, so i went in to get a wash, i hadnt been to a machine wash in a while. but it beat the sh*t out of my car. if you still go to machine washes, stop now.

Wash it myself in my driveway with a proper mitt (seperate mitt/bucket for the wheels) and Carnuba enriched soap!

Dry with a proper shammy (sp? ) and vola...the car is super clean!!

^ yeah same here. I went to a new one that just opened. I didn't think anything about it until I was pulling in and the conveyor belt clamped down on my wheel and slid me in line with the track. Left a big gash in my custom rims. I worried about my car through the whole thing. I wash mine by hand now.

Hand wash and dry with micro fiber sponge and towels. Hand wax with a micro fiber applicator and micro fiber hand towels. I wash my car weekly and wax it every three weeks or so. I take my time because I enjoy doing it. A straight wash will take me a couple of hours (mostly on the drying and interior detail). Wash and wax takes anywhere from three to four hours. My next full detail will include claybar.

Washed by hand every time! It takes quite a a bit of effort, but the look is worth it.

I wash mine by hand every time...I've never taken ANY car I've owned to a machine wash nor let anyone else wash it. Since I currently live in an apartment I have to take my car to one of those "do it yourself" car washes. I just set it to rinse and fill up my bucket with Zaino car wash....wash the car with a soft mitt and rinse it off. Then finish it with Z6 or Z8 spray detailer.

If you want something done right you have to do it yourself. My friends take their cars to machine washes and the $25 car washes to let people wash it...and their cars always look like crap to me. Streaks everywhere, small swirl marks, etc. They also spray that crap on the tires that flings off onto your paint when you drive away. No Thanks! I can sacrifice 1 hour a week to wash it myself.

Hand wash and apply Turtle Wax Ice. Leaves no streaks and is quick.

Hand wash.

The exception is winter when it is below 40 degrees. Then I take it to a self high pressure wash.

Laser wash often, so nothing touches the car and beats it up. When I need it waxed and detailed, I just take it down to the dealerships and instead of paying $150 to the dealership for it, I just give the workers $30 on the side and they do everything they normally would .
