Do anyone know of any good body shops in south jersey. I was waiting to make a right turn, and this lady runs right into the back of me. Then she trys to say, she thought i hit the car in front of me. I so no %$%. I was waiting for the car to pull out so i can pull in. Had the officer to right a report. Now come to seems that she may not have insurance. She offered to pay out of the pocket, so the insurance co. won't get involved.
Should i take it to the dealer, and get the est cost of the repair. WIll the dealer do a better job, then a local body shop? Because they will use nissan parts? How much you think it will cost to replace the whole bumper.
Jill where did you take your car to get repaired?

Sorry to hear about your accident.

The bumber may be the least of the cost. The damage to the energy absorbing material beneath won't be cheap. Make sure they replace it. Some places will just put the new bumper on, not replacing what is hidden beneath, to save money. Just make sure whoever you take it to has a good reputation.

Good Luck.

I would take it to a dealer as they may have priority in receiving parts for your repair. The 350Z parts supply is limitied at this time, maybe the dealer can speed up the process as compared to a body shop.

The worse part about the whole thing, she said what about her car. I said $%^ you ran into me. Then she said o, its not that bad, you can buff it out. Thats not the point. I guess she couldn't see the dent, and my turn signal deattached from the bumper. IF she said one more dumb thing, would it been wrong
if i started to smash up her suv.

From my experience, dealers do a crappy job. Any good bodyshop will use OEM parts. I would ask around... find out who does high end work for BMW, Ferraris, Porsches, etc... and bring you car there for an estimate. See what kind of work they do. That's what I did for my Prelude and I found an awesome shop. My car was probably one of the least expensive cars there but at least they treated it like a Ferrari when it came to bodywork.

Find a bodyshop that has contracts with dealerships and are the main bodyshop for the specific dealerships.

I took mine to a bodyshop that does work for many different dealerships (Chevy, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, etc), and they did an excellent job. No trace of an accident and the paint match was great.

I just got my car back from someone hitting my front bumper. It cost 772.00 for the bumper/paint and repaint of the left front quarter panel. Looks like new again! Luckly I saw the car getting hit in the parking lot and the driver had insurance. Hope all works out.

I checked with the dealer yesterday. They had body guy come out. The total would come to about 900. Do you think i should go with the dealer or a body shop. I am assuming this guy owns a body shop, and they brought him in, to take a look at my car.
Checked another body shop, and he told me i should not get a new bumper, and that he could repaint it and smooth it out. He claims the problem with dealers is that they will, basically paint my whole car, by them feathering the color, so it can match the bumper. then a few years down the line the paint will start peeling because it is not factory paint, and the just painted over the clear coat of the car.
I thinking, I only had my car for 6 months. I don't see how he can get wrinkles out of plastic bumper. I saved a lot for this car, so i think it is only right for me to get a brand new bumper.
How much do you think the car will depericate from this accident.? If someone do a car fax, will this show up on their reports? Their is no major damage, just the bumper has black paint over it, and and a small part of the bumper are wrinkled.

I am stuck between two rocks. I could go with one body shop, who claims if i get a new bumper, and the dealer does the work, later down the line the paint will start changing, and they will not honor it, after the warrenty. Or go with this *******, and let he repair the bumper, but i know its not new. And who knows, defects can show later down the line, from me not getting a new bumper.

pissed off.

If you go through Insurance it WILL show up on the cars history. But totally out of pocket it won't.

when i went to get an est. they asked for my registration card. I am assuming they will take down my vin. Will this be put into any databse that will show up in distance future on car history?
I think she should pay me for the stress dealing with this whole thing. Order my car in march, waited 6months to get it. Can't even drive it, because the weather is bad. Finally get a nice day out, take it 2miles from my house. And someone hits me.

They may report it, it really depends on the guy doing it for something like that.

Did you call the police? If you did that will most likely end up in a database. Police reports are one thing CarFax looks for.

For your sake I hope you did report it. If not it will make it impossible to collect unless she admits to it. She could just deny it.

I definately agree. If someone asks me about getting body work done when they come into my office I send them directly to the local body shop we use. I would never send anyone to our dealer body shop that is at one of our other locations. Unless someone above the individual dealership gets involved, we have learned better than to use our own. And usually when they get involved and make us send it to "our" body shop, as soon as it gets back we have to send it to the local shop to get done right.
Forget the dealer for body work.

How in the world did this post from 2003 reappear in 2005???

Well anyway, Megatron....If you STILL out there and on this forum, check out Steve's Auto Body on Haddonfield Rd. in Cherry Hill, NJ (across from the Cherry Hill Mall). I've taken my old company car (Pontiac Grand Prix) there twice after 2 separate accidents...and they did excellent work. I'm sure they would do just as well on a Z.

sorry about your car. $900 dont sound too bad. I think if the damage's under $1000 it doesn't show up on car-fax but i can wrong. A pro can always tell if the car has been in an accident.
How much's your deductable?
