But the problem was not with our justice system/government anyway. It was with the high school kids that didn't have the guts or the desire to do the right thing and come forward and testify as to what they saw. That's the real problem; and unfortunately, unlike bad judges and politicians, you can't just vote that kind of attitude out of those kids.
+1 - great explanation

Well I have been tracking this saga and I had a feeling it might end up like this. First let me say that the outcome was very unfortunate, and I'm glad to see that you kept your cool and set a great example for your sons throughout the process. However, and I might be playing devil's advocate here, I can't really blame the kids who didn't have the guts to come forward and testify. Some of the kids who saw the incident may have been passersby, and now they are involved with this issue just because they were looking in the wrong direction at the wrong time. So if they testify in court then they are putting themselves into the suspect's crosshairs. If he is still out walking free after ~$20k worth of convicted vandalism, why would they put him away for another ~$3k of vandalism? And if the kid is unbalanced enough to do a stunt like this in the first place, then he is probably unbalanced enough to follow through on his threats to beat up anyone who testifies.

I'm normally a non-violent type, but I am starting to think that you should consider the offers from our special-ops forum members to teach this kid a lesson. I'm not really talking about anything that would leave him maimed, scarred, or otherwise physically harmed. I am thinking more along the lines of scaring the sheit out of him and making him realize that he's not as tough as he thinks. I know that some people will argue that mental trauma is just as serious as physical trauma, but I would argue that mental trauma is much harder to identify and blame (by say a prosecutor) and sometimes much more effective. They must have some methods of physically non-destructive mental torture : )

readin your story made me pretty angry... lol i hate how the kid got away. getting your car keyed is one thing, but dumping paint... the kid should be sued, and arrested for vandalism, then confronted by you and everyone on this forum... i hope everything turns out good wit your Z... hammurabi's code: eye for an eye...

btw: i wish i had that Z when i was in h.s. beautiful car

Despite this unfortunate outcome, I am glad that you put forth the effort to do it the right way. It is only a matter of time before this vandal is in jail.

Im not gonna read the entire 25 pages but this is the car owners fault. What kind of asshat lets his high school kid drive a $30,000+ sports car to school?

Are you completely ignorant? Dont you know that high school kids all drive pieces of **** and they will be jealous of any kid who dosent drive junk. Espically spoiled brats with daddys 350z. Probably bragging about it in school.

You deserved this and had it coming. Next time use your head and get your kid a cavalier. You didnt see Cameron's dad letting him take the Ferarri to school did you?

Your good points:
Dad shoulda gotten the kid a DD...and leave the Z as a weekend warrior. If I was that kid I wouldn't drive it daily anyways.

Your bad points:
It's 11 pages actually.

The OP explained why he lets his high school son drive the car to school.

Not all high school kids drive a POS. There are kids driving, BMW's, Benz's, Corvettes, etc. Believe it or not here are kids out there responsible enough to handle nice cars...sure it's a small percentage but they're out there. The kids who drive regular cars don't do anything to kids with nicer cars...at my HS anyways. Sure they'll mouth off but for the 3 years i've been there...it has NEVER gone to such an extreme.

How the hell do you know he's a spoiled brat? If you took the time to read the whole thread you'd see that the son has to maintain good grades or he has to hand over the keys.

"You deserved it and had it coming"...man what hell is wrong with you? Nobody fuhking deserves that at all. It was completely uncalled for. The ******** who did that should be in a coma.

You are a complete moron buddy. Yeah it's HIS fault because he has a nice car? WTF is wrong with you? If they want their kid to have that car, that is their decision. They don't DESERVE any wrongdoing by anyone else. Get a clue and stop thinking like a retard. Obviously you are just a jealous and bitter "asshat".

no dude, YOUR wrong. He did deseve it. He had no common sense and got what any reasonable person would have seen coming. Sure, get your kid a nice car, but use your head. Dont let him park it where there is a good chance someone will screw it up. Like a HS parking lot.

Obvoiusly you are a naieve, ignorant, foolish, retarded asshat. Start using that lump 3 feet above your *** for something else than spewing out moronic garbage.

After I watched somebody key a previous car of mine, I tried to do the right thing and called the cops. After several weeks of dealing with detectives and the legal system, I got nothing. No money to fix the car and no punishment for the guy who did it. After that, I decided that when it comes to my property, I'm no longer willing to let the justice system get involved. I'll just deal with these things on my own the way I used to when I was a teenager. Only now, I'm smarter and have more money. If someone meeses with my stuff and I get a plate number, they're in for a world of hurt.

If you took the time to read through this site.. you would figure out that no car is safe in any parking spot.

Seriously, your comments are unneeded

you just signed up to the board and allready typing a buncha ****.

when i was in high school which was about a year and half ago.
a kid drove a Masarati to school. Everyone thought the kid was a dick but they didnt do **** to his car. No Camera's around school.

This kid with the Z didnt deserve it at all.
He was just minding his own business and some guy wanted to see what his face would look like when he saw that. That is a stupid reason to pour paint on a car.

I read this thread like a while ago.
Kid does deserve the car. because he keeps his grades up and his father has the money to spend on the kid.
