True very true, I am just getting ready for turbo but some parts must go and I will lose some $$ on them but oh well that is life. I want to build the engine 1st then buy turbo kit, I dont want to go boom.NA is fun but you always want more after you get the bug, just my opinion.

I did that when I was married...I had a 1984 300ZX Turbo Anniversary Ed. LOVED IT!! Sold it to show her I was committed to the idea of having children...she wound up leaving me a year later (never had kids). Selling my Z made me sick...so last year I got my 350Z.

But I wish you all the best with your family SQ40!! Be blessed...and may you be able to get your Z later on down the road.
Thanks Man...

Maybe in a couple of decades I will pick up another sports car. Until then, Its Family Trucksters.

Doh! didn't think of that, thank you.

I'd rather go NA mods first til they run out since it's reliable and there's no turbo lag. When the time comes and I have more money than I know what to do with, IT's TURBO TIME!

If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have dropped $36K+ on a New ZR. I would have Dropped about $15-$20K on a Decent Used coupe one and Threw an SC or ST on it.

Remember this....you will NEVER get money back on mods. If you plan on turning this into a totally different car (turbo, etc), plan on keeping it for a long time. Also plan on always having to fix or tweak something. Remember, also, that modding is a hobby. The PROCESS of searching, shopping, installing, driving, etc are ALL part of the enjoyment. If you saved for an FI system, you would have missed out on much of the process for all that other time. Even with FI, you would eventually get used to the power level, then want more. It never stops.

If you want a track car, FI is not the way to go. Max out your NA mods, add an oil cooler, lighten everything as much as you can. You will have a phenomenal track car. Bottom line is that the Z just isn't the best platform for really high power. To really have that much power and have it useable, you need all-wheel-drive and a bullet proof engine (e.g. the Supra 2JZ or Audi 2.7TT) What an FI Z is good for is for a killer rush when you drop from 4th to 3rd and nail the throttle. That's fast enough not to lose traction. But to do it right, you will need to build almost a whole new car, and one that will need constant attention, fixing, tweaking. If that's what you want to do, by all means, go for it and have fun with your project, but know what you are getting yourself into.

Personally, I believe the Z represents a perfectly balanced sports car of MODERATION. It isn't the best at any one thing, but does everything very well at a reasonable price. Enjoy it for what it is. Don't upset the balance. Just my opinion.
