Default Aftermarket Leather/Stereo Again

For the sterero: do many of you use places like Curcuit City or NOW Audio Video or do you go to custom shops? Does anyone know of any REALLY good custom shops in NC?

For the leather: What's the best place to go? Will Classic Soft Trim have the exact burnt orange Nissan leather? Does it look/feel/hold together as if it were the factory leather?

I don't know about color, but the leather from Classic Soft Trim is typically higher quality than what manufacturers compare.

I just spoke with another leather installer here in Dallas (Texas Auto Tops) about leather installation. I'm going to check out the place to see their colors next week. It was recommended from my dealer over Classic Soft Trim. Hopefully, I can check them both out to compare. I was quoted $1099 for the Z (includes leather seats and door inserts, w/3yr 36k warranty).

umm, there are no door inserts. I don't think that shop is familar with the 350Z unless they plan to cover the entire door with leather. I am very interested in getting the seats done in leather aftermarket in two-tone. I wonder what colors would look best for Daytona Blue?? I was thinking perhaps black on the outside and red in the middle (to tie into the tail lights) but I think there is already too much black in the interior.

If you're not too concerned about dealer warranties (i.e. non authorized dealers), know what components you need, and don't mind online sales...

... are some places to look into. I've found their prices to be better than most retail shops. You might be able to get good prices from a local mom & pop's audio shop, but I bet you'll have to wheel and deal w/ the owner or manager (i.e. not the shop guys).

I bet some of the other audiophiles on the board have other suggestions too.

gstdtim:

Classic will have the Burnt Orange. I too have heard that their leather is a better grade then factory. I'm also considering having mine redone.

Classic hasn't established a price yet with Nissan and won't until somebody gives them a car in L.A. to work with. They need to determine the amount of labor involved.

Does anyone have experience with Classic Soft and what kind of job they do? Pretty high quality I would assume?

Tim,

I've seen an Altima that they did and it looked pretty good. I wasn't able to spend a lot of time in it since it belonged to a customer and was due to be picked up shortly. There have been comments made that one location in TX isn't recommended. The one here in No. Cal. gets good reviews though.

If you can't find anybody local that has experience with the shop you'd use then try asking some other dealers especially high end ones who does their leather changes/repairs.

Whoa. That looks nice. Thanks for posting that pic EnthuZ!

Considering the price to get the seats covered in leather is similar in price to replacing them with some Sparco racing seats, has anyone considered that? Are those seats comfortable for longer trips or are they really just meant for racing?

I paid $850 as an option at my Nissan dealer to get my leather seats from classic soft trim and installation from a nearby shop. It was all in the final car price from the dealer. Best part, you can select any color from CST's sample leather thingy.

Class Soft Trim now lists the 350Z. It says "no image available" and pattern 458240-PT, NIS03-03350Zw/FrtBkts CSTSmoothDesign. Whatever that means.
