Isn't that bend in the bumper going to damage the paint in that area over time? I know the paint has flex in it, but I would think any 'aftermarket' mods such as bending the painted surface will exascerbate any problems that you are already going to have with Nissan's crappy paint. A+ for not caring what anyone else thinks though.

The bulge in the picture is actully exagerrated. I did it to make it look obvious. The bulge is barely there. Its very light, if i touch it from the left side of the hitch, it'll go to the right. If i touch/tap it from the right, then it'll swing to the left. That's how light it is.

It looks like its leaning against the hitch or something like that - but its really not doing that. If it was then your right, there would be some paint damage.

If you look at one of the low side pictures, the hitch is barely visible. I got a black color hitch, so its barely visible even during the day. It makes absolutely no noise or hindrence while driving either.

The idea is just to be able to tow my bike weighing in less then 400 lbs. I'm prolly gonna test some big heavy trailers, just to see how it holds. But will be using a really small 4X6 trailer that will prolly weigh less than 300 lbs. But the heavy testing, just for my satisfaction.

Everyone at nissan gave me alot of **** - and even laughed, and said if i traded it in, they'd gave me a good deal on a Titan. But i don't give a damn. In the end, i'm the one that's making the payment for the car. And i'm the one whose gonna be able to tow slicks to the track or my bike to the track. All in a budget and independent manner.

Sorry guys, i had to so this. But i test drove every single truck out there. I just can't get used to the feeling of it. I come from a heavy back ground of sports car. From Porsche Boxster to BMW M3 to now the Z. And i just wanted a sports car handling car that give me 20 mpg in the city. The Z does that day in and day out.

I look at it as "Just another reason why the Z is soo useful and such a great car". It helps me justify keeping the car and not getting a truck and getting 12 mpg, while regretting the high ride

But to each his own..the comments are highly encouraging though

BTW - the hitch is cool. Next year I hope to get a small trailer to haul race tires around to Autox so I'm going to be needing one. They're actually more common than most people here think, especially among the autocrossers.

Can you describe how this is attached to the car. I just spent 3x as much for a custom install. My first hitch was only attached to the bumper support and that didn't work.
Can you take some pics under the car? I didn't know uhaul had a hitch out for us.

Years ago I used to trailer my bike to track days. It was very funny how everyone would show up with their big rigs and fancy setups while I would roll in with my ford probe and $9.99 uhaul rental trailer.

Its actully made for a G35 Sedan, so i kinda improvised from there.

Basically two holes were drilled in the bumper reinforcement and two big as screws (4 inch plus) were used to hold the hitch to the reinforcement.

I will post up pictures as soon as i get a chance to upload them.

I just trailered my 350lbs track bike and 100 lbs equipment on a 400 lbs trailer with the car fully loaded in the back, with two people in the front a round trip of 200 miles.

All at the same time getting 21 mpg (highway) and laughing at my fellow friends in their Trucks getting 12-14 mpg (highway).

It was a blast, she handles well - and best thing is if any thing happened, i got UHAUL covering me for lifetime for just $5 bucks

So much for Custom hitches - there good for only bicycle racks..

If it is only attached to the bumper support than you have the same design as my first hitch. I had major problems with it after 2 years of towing. Does yours look like this? The bumper support can not support the load. Just be sure to check things out each time after you tow. Mine started to squeak and the hitch eventually felt loose.

If you think the thead is useless move on..don't comment, did'nt your momma tell you "if you don't have something nice to say - don't say anything at all?"

The thread is useful to many people that are serious about trailering with the Z.

For you it might be useless - but that does'nt mean you have to fricken voice every time.

And Vo - thanks for the pics
