Default Rock Disaster...

as i was coming home last night, a rock found its way to my lower right windshield... it was a good combination of weight and travel to cause a crack about 10 inches across... wondering if theres a simple fix, like repairing the crack instead of replacing the windshield.

Check your deductable, it might be better if you pay out of pocket... I wouldnt use your insurance if your deductable is $500 and the windshield is $550...

My insurance allows me to get my windshield replaced every 2 years. Maybe you should look into a policy like that? I only pay an extra $18 a month for SEVERAL added perks.

Ouch. That is a serious crack. Time for a new windshield. Check the regional forum for a recommended installer.

i've heard if you take the "hows my driving" numbers off a truck thats transporting dirt/rocks and call it in, they will replace your "damaged" windshield. The driver doesnt get in trouble since it's regarding debris and not their driving. Just be sure you know the time, freeway (especially the direction the are headed), and licence plate. The one thing you may have to worry about is: KARMA (unless you dont believe in it).

Good Luck
