Default Thinking of becoming a new owner

Whats up everyone....this is my first post/thread on this forum. I currently have an 06 g35 coupe 6mt, its a 12 month lease that I picked up and thought about maybe modding and buying out. Ive been thinking lately that I'd rather get a Z after this becaue they look 10 times better IMO. I know that the z/g are pretty much the same cars but i have to ask anyway. How well do these cars react to bolt-ons? I do know that the g35 doesnt take to them to well and you pretty much need to go F/I to get any kinds of gains with the car. I work for nissan/infiniti so i have the cars at my disposal and everytime i drive the damn Z i realize how much I love the car.

Welcome.

There are plenty of dyno charts in the forced induction and intake and exhaust forums.

Well welcome aboard the Z ship! lol
I am kinda of a new Z owner as well I have had my
06 for a few months and was thinking bout the G35 vs 350z
and after reading up a bit It was clear that the G35 was out.
The G35 comes in at 3,524 lb curb weight, 298 hp @ 6400 RPM
with 260 Torque and is like 35 grand???? The base Z on the other
hand is 3,339 with 300HP @ 6400 RPM. Granted they are both heavy cars
I think the G35 is not really the "Sports Car" that your looking for. IMO go with the Z, moding is expensive on both cars either ways but I think you will feel the difference in the Z more then with the G35. Just look into the mods and gains for the cars as it is kinda hard to get big gains out of bolt ons for these bad boys!!!!! haha hope that helps!

thank thank you, yea your def rite...the g35 as nice as the car is def isnt a true sports car. Its more of a luxury sports coupe whereas the z is sports car. The luxury features and a :::cough::: backseat that the g offers i def will miss but damn is the Z sexy lol. Though i have beaten an automatic z with cai and titanium exhuast in my car. I know the 6mt will spank me.

I love the styling and all of the Z a lot better then the G. It has that sports car look while the G has the sporty "coupe" look (because of the rear seats). IMO I like the Z better cause there are no back seats, yet when I do get my Z, hopefully soon, the first response I get from people is 9/10 "why don't you just get the G35 instead" and i literally go Don't get me wrong, I love the G, but the Z has that sports car look that screams "you have to drive me"

the taillights on the G bother me a lot....whereas the 06 z taillights are super sweet.

Usually buying your car at the end of a lease can be pretty expensive. I just got rid of my '05 Altima that I had leased for 2 years. I got offered 11,500 for trade in on it and the residual I could pay was $14,800. On that car I figured that I'd seen identical '06 Altimas for $16,500 and for the difference in the prices I'd be much better off just letting it go. Why pay $14,800 for a used car with 25,000 miles instead of a new one for $16,500.

Personaly since the Z is almost at its end of the model run, I would hold out for the new 08' G35 Coupe, comes out around March 2007... If it looks anything like the Coupe Concept I might be trading in my Roadster for one..

Yep, the 08 G35C looks pretty sharp. It'll be cursious to see what the new Z looks like if/when they ever decide anything.
