350z or Bike?
I would suggest a new civic si or rsx-s they are fun tuner cars at a good price. If you get a Z your age and income your going to be pinching pennies and its gonna kill your going out money. Trust me I'm 19 and make roughly 2,200 after taxes a month and still find myself needing more money for **** I want to do.

I'm suprised your parents wouldn't want you to buy used. IMO that would be the smartest thing if your buying the Z. A 30k car for a 16/17 year old is a little crazy. I know in my family I was lucky to get a 1999 Civic hx as my first car. I made about 1000-1200 a month, and I was still low on cash, even with the amazing gas mileage on the civic.
So basically your payments are going to be killing you.

Im done with bikes after i had a wreck and couldnt walk for two months. Took me 3 years to ride another, i sold my r6 for what i paid for it when i bought the Z. The wreck was on a 1000cc triumph daytona that freaking hurt, lucky im still alive.

Dude when I was in HS and getting ready to go to UCF i had a integra gsr that i was paying and it was awsome!! IM not saying for you to get a honda but have you thought about staying in the nissan family and get a used 300zx? they come turbo and they are pretty nice!!! or how about a 240sx?
if I were in your shoes i would go with a 300 they are still sporty and fast and reliable!!

hey click on that big link up there!! the two top 300zx are pretty nice they do have alittle milage but they look nice!! and you can pay it off and hook it up!!
S2kphil from the sound of your name it looks like you wanted a s2000 at one point? those cars can be found pretty cheap, but with some milage and maybe a 2001. I found one along time ago for 14k and it had 80k miles but it had been in a accident it was not totaled but it needed a new front bumper and hood! look around thats your best bet

I voted for the Z. If you just got your license I'm assuming you're probably 16. I really dont think you should get a Z this soon and definately definately not a motorcycle. I think you should buy something much less expensive but pretty fast and stick for your first car. I'd recommend something like a 240sx with a sr20det engine drop. Those are fairly cheap and easy to come by.

Yeah, on paper you can "afford" it. But in reality? No. Unless you plan on garaging it never driving the damn thing, you are going to need gas. How much is a gallon of premium in CA? How much will you be driving? How aggressively will you do driving it? A teenager with a hot car is gonna be driving everyone everywhere, fast! Be prepare to cough another $200+ a month on gas.
What about going out with friends? Going out on dates? Buying that game for the X360? And just life in general. You get my point.
I am not raining on your parade, yah ok I kinda am. I know living beyond your means is the American way. But buying $30k car on a $12k salary is boarderline retarded. Frankly, I'm surprised your parents are even going along with this. Unless you haven't told them about the Z. Pay your dues and buy a cobolt like every other 16-year-old.

it's a great car and lots of fun to drive. insurance will be much cheaper, and you'll get much better gas mileage.
plus, if you want to mod it, there's TONS of stuff in the aftermarket.

these are some pics. also my dad's best friend was sitting at a red light on his bike, and when the light turned green, a girl on her cell phone ran over and killed him. After owning 4 bikes, i bought a Z. It is better for my health!

I am still trying to figure out the reason why your parents will not allow you to buy used. I had a 240 back in the day that I bought used. I loved that car loved tinkering with it. That is what made me fall in love with cars. Sometimes I wish i would have kept it.

Btw, if I do opt for the bike and sister's car, she's just going to give it to me since she's going to have a brand new car.
