just jumping in for a sec, the law is written to protect someone who helps an injured person,
personally i have minimal first aid training and would use that...however, if i try to jump start some ones heart with my car jumper cables or do a tracheotomy with a ball point pen because i saw it on MASH they can fry my butt
Some places you are required by law to stop and assist, and others (like germany) require you to have a first aid kit with certain supplies in your car at all times

I totally agree that the racing should be done at the track, but there have been numerous times that I just wanted to hear the Z or drive a little fast and there is a time and a place for it I know I just can't resist sometimes. This was just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and everyone was at fault it looks like, the guys for racing and the elderly lady for pulling out in front of them. I like to give people another chance and I understand the elderly lady wont have another chance but why send possibly a 16 year old to jail for life for a mistake I'm sure we all have made at least once!!!

I sure haven't heard of it.
Best thing to do if you see an accident is to call 911 IMO.
Sure, it would be very tempting to try to help someone, and I probably would myslef, but sometimes people get sued over helping accident vitims.
Sad but true.

In any case if you are a witness you are supposed to stop.. at least that's what every cop has ever told me...
yea...that road sucks to race on....therefore why you do it...not in newark epecially....cops and traffic are worse there than anywhere...and im sure once the ion owner can talk...hell know what the tag was if it was a vanity plate...or just know for definate what kinda car it is....but w/o it being a vanity plate...theres no way there gonna find a silver 350z in another state

My law professor just discussed the topic of stopping and helping someone in class and he confirmed that ther is no such law that requires you to give assistance. This can go all the way to you literally watching some little kid drown in a lake. UNLESS it is your specific job (I.E. a lifeguard of that lake) then you can not be held liable for not helping the child and to the good sam. laws are true where they have been passed. Unless you are grossly negligent can you be held liable for trying to help someone.
I don't know how this got on to the subject of Good Samaritan laws, but it's interesting you mentioned a drowing victim. In the case of someone drowning, you better not try to just swim out and save them. If you do that without proper training and a flotation device, they're going to try to claw their way up your body to get out of the water and then there will be two dead people in the water.

Why send a 16-year-old to jail for life for something we all could have done? Because there are consequences for one's actions. Just because it's mistake a lot of people "may" be capable of committing doesn't make it ok. It's called exercising good judgement, and being held accountable when you bone it.
And way to insult a mod and making it personal. You may want to re-examine your own decision making paradigm.

I think the MOD is the one who made it personal by calling me out and basically calling me a child, listen the last thing I wanted to do was start a ruckus in this thread I was just giving my opinion. What if this was your kid who hit the lady would you feel the same way?? And the Viper comment was an OPINION I think all Vipers are ugly not just his.

But that's my opinion. Opinions are like arseholes... Everybody's got one.

Honestly if it were a loved one of mine I would obviously be very very upset but I would not want the book thrown at John Doe IF it was a younger individual because like I said earlier everyone makes mistakes and I beleive in forgiveness, the man upstairs will take care of the rest IMO.

Hey man I agree with having to take responsibility for your actions but basically what I was saying was I hope if it was a younger person driving that car He or she is given another chance. I just hope this doesn't ruin more lives than it already has. God bless all families involved!!!
