so i got my sequential plates in the mail last week but i'd really rather not put them on cuz i ordered personalized ones...how long have you guys ridden around with dealer plates and not been harassed by cops?
and if they DID stop you for no plates and it's been obviously long enough for you to get your plates, does it count for anything if you have them in the car...? or did it just **** off the popo even more cuz you've got them and haven't put them on?

yeah ok i know that......the real question was the second part, for people who've been stopped for no plates, if they had them in the car and if that affected the cop in unforseen ways.....you know how cops are man, they're PMSing 24/7.

It's against the law to drive without plates period, even if you have them in the trunk you will still get cited. You can ride on dealer tags, but the expiration date must be current. If it is not, you will be cited.

I will stop vehicles all day long for not having tags. Doesn't mean I will cite (will consider the circumstances). If you have them in the vehicle, guess what... I will give you my multi-tool and have you put them on right there. Refuse then I'll write.
It's a good reason for me to stop you and find out what else may be wrong (possible big fish).
So keep riding without those plates.

thing is i dont wanna put the front plate on. on my old car i had a 'cal' logo plate instead of a #'d plate in the front and it was all good in LA but once i got to berkeley within the first week a troll of a metermaid decided she wouldnt stand for it and gave me a fixit ticket. only cost $10 processing fee but still.
i think im gonna leave them off a little longer.

I appreciated the beauty of a car more than a stat of a ticket which is why I WILL never pull over a car for that sole purpose.
To OP: Of course its illegal to not have plates on your car. Its the same concept as having a driver license but NOT on you. Heck here in CO its illegal if you have your plates 24" or higher from the ground!
