Thinking of buying.......
Hello everyone, I have had Mustangs for most of my driving years. I have no "favorite" car but I like many different ones, 350z, Supras, RX8s, Mustangs etc......I've been looking at buying a 350z and would like some feedback from the members here. Mostly wondering about strength/reliability, fuel mileage, insurance costs etc...... Being a Mustang guy I enjoy the occassional drag race and head to the track at least once a year to run. I have always loved the 350zs, since they first came out I thought they were an awesome car, but always out of my price range. I also love the old Datsun 280zs-great driving cars-way ahead of their time IMO.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I am averaging 17-18 mpg with city/hwy driving. The Z does require preimium gas. My insurance is only ~69/mon with 300 deduct. full coverage. I am male over 25 and have 3 cars. The reason why the Z is so cheap is because I listed it as a weekend car. As for strength/reliability, power is good, not the fastest on the road but good enough for me. Reliability is fine, just some small annoying fit and finish issues. (See the TSB and you can get a better idea).

Got your private message, I'll respond here:
1. The kms average I get here in Canadian calculation is 14-16 kms per 100 something, can't remember what it goes buy, but that is the number it gives me on the Canadian computer.
2. My insurance went up $15cdn a month. I have a great insurance plan so don't know how yours will be.
3. To fill the tank all the way up, it's about $60cdn when I filled it up last week for winter storage.
4. As a gauge to how far the gas will last, I drove from Ottawa to Kingston and bank with one full gas tank.
5. I bought the 2003 used one year before it went out of warrenty so I could make sure I got all the TSB fixed. Haven't had any problems so far after the warrenty ran out (knock on wood)
6. I was saving up to go forced induction but came to the realization that the city I am living in just doesn't have enough highways to justify having a a 400 to 500 HP car.
7. Definately put some money aside for rims and a front lip for the car. I really think these two mods will totally change your car to the other stock Zed driving around. And if you have any left over, lowering the car an inch is pretty nice
8. My heart still skips a beat when I look at my car.
Good luck.

This is true, to truely compare you need to look at market zone, credit and driving history of the person, and the type of car.

I'll copy a post I made to another thread that I think is relevant:
I get 93 octane gas here (Never run anything but Amoco Ultimate) and get about 20 MPG around town and 28 at 80 MPH on the highway. Not bad.
I pre-ordered my 2003 Silverstone Track model before anyone had seen them in the US. (September 2002). I drive the **** out of it, taking it aggressively and deliberately to 6000 RPM or more every time I drive it, starting at 100 miles on the odometer (picked it up with 7).
I daily-drove it for a couple of years, now at 42,00 miles I mainly run track events (HPDE) at VIR, Roebling Road, Rockingham. It is bone stock, except for brake pads and tires, and a K&N air filter.
Aside from a few NTB's (kinda like a recall but less urgent) I have had zero problems with the car. The harder I drive it, the easier it is to drive. It behaves beautifully on road and on-track, and my instructors have heaped praise on the car for its stability and predictability. (Nice to have Miata & BMW drivers praising the 350Z! ) I can't be happier.
I doubt you'd get better from your other options.
