I was going for 4th but hit 2nd and got a huge RPM spike, I engaged the clutch before the tach hit 8krpm. The car is driving fine and no CEL, think I am alright?

I shifted from 5th to 2nd doing about 80-85 by accident one night, tires squealed, VDC light came on and I immediately disengaged the clutch. RPM spiked to over 8k and really scared the crap out of me but no check engine light, damage to my Z or Stillen S/C. I thought for sure something would go boom but thank god it didn't. Thats the problem with short shifters sometimes
It was an honest mistake that could happen to anyone. I am sure that your Z is fine since it was not running @ 8k rpm for long.

This happend to me twice. Once when i was hauling *** down a mountain (Laurel Canyon for those of you in LA) and I shifted for 3rd, 6000rpms to 2nd... the RPMs shot up faster then I have ever seen. luckly I pressed the clutch right away... Im glad I had my traction on that time or else I would have been doing 360s donw the mountain. The second time was at the drag strip... same thing went from 3rd to second. again luckly nothin happend since I noticed it right away and pressed the clutch.

I had that happen in the S twice. Was trying to hit 2cnd but it didn't want to go in so I tried again but hit first coming from third. Luckily I had 8200rpms so I wasn't to bad.
Lol I remember stalling a few times in the morning because for some reason a lot of S2000's don't like to go into 1st cold so I actually had it in 3rd lol
