Default Looks Aside... STI or Z?

i've seen a few threads saying people would take the Z over an STI based on looks alone. Yes I did search first lol. but i am a HUGE STI fan it is one of my dream cars along with a M3. I like the gigantic Wing, its what makes it stand out and unique. the awd is perfect for the long winters we have up here. my only knock on the sti is that it doesn't have a coupe, which is y i like the Z cuz it's a 2 seater. But putting looks aside and based strictly on performance, and overall driving which would you choose the Z or STI? i've driven a WRX but not a STI i just kno they accelerate like a bat out of hell. Amazing cars

i own a 2003 350z touring well im gunna try and not biased its hard though lol. Ok if your strictly talkin about mod potential sti its easy to make it fast for little money. The z is very hard to gain horse power in its NA form even though more stuff seems to be coming out who noes. The z is a far better built in everyway as far as quality. The sti lacks on style and quality and there service centers are horrible they try to screw you in everyway. Basically if your looking for something overall great in everyway the Z is the way to go. If your just looking to go the fasest with the least money and style go with the sti. The sti is fast but also runs like 16lbs of boost stock to generate a misley 300hp no lowend power and to me is a super launcher lol i mean stock vs stock i can take them from rolls. Take off the cat on a sti and it will walk me but if the z33 was running 16lbs it would be like 600rwp but would require a built engine. i Dunno i could debate this all day but i can assure u in overall build the z is a better car but if ur gunna be in alot of snow i dunno then. I was in the same situation G35c, 350z, sti or evo i chose the z cause overall its great and a chick magnet

Sounds like you already have your mind made up... AWD, big wing, long time fan... All of those are things that don't apply to the Z unless you want to become an overnight fan of the AWD G35 and put a huge tacky wing on it.

HHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH love that post

To me STI is a cheap 4cyc that just pushes lots of turbo to get horses and turbo car is easy to mod. Your better off gettin a 300zx twin turbo for less money then a pos sti Subaru quality is low man i used to be freinds with this kid tom his freind nick had a 2002 wrx and the engine caught on fire while he was driving no joke ask him if he would buy one again hahah And my old freind danny has a 2002 wrx i guess his runs decent but in the first month he had to go to the dealers and the guy before him had the engine built he recently had to change his clutch and fuel injectors also was a ***** but the dealer covered him

enough of being a dick yeh but if you need a fun fast everyday driver good in the snow and u can fit plenty grocerys back there sti is a good choice hey why dont u just get a forester i mean they run 14s imagine how many grocerys u can fit back there hahahahah

im such a ******* lol sry for bad grammarlo

LOL, i used to like EVO and STI. But as soon as i saw the Z, there was no turning back. In my opinion, Z has a much better roofline as well as overall design. It also looks superior as the Z's are mildly modified. Yes, STI and Evo's may be fast, but the history of the Z can never be touched by an STI and EVO.

Look at it his way:

Buy a Z, and have all the women oogling it, and you get some vagina.

Buy an STI, and have all the guys oogling it, and you get some anus.

Which do you prefer?

Oh... and repost.

not only is it a repost... it's in the wrong forum.... this is not the 350z vs every other car forum.... we have the "other vehicles" forum for this....

it's also pointless... we arent driving the car.. you are... our opinions shouldn't matter...and if they do... I'm terribly sorry about your luck.

my 350 ZTI is almost done. MY double stacked on top sti wings have arrived and my ebay blow off valve exhaust addon all thats left now is to stab a few holes in my exhaust with a rusty screw driver should sound and feel exsatly like a sti then imagine a wing almost 6 feet high hahahahah lmfao im afraid subaru may steal my design on the double stacked sti wing i can see it now 2008 subaru sti now with 10foot wing and motor and tranny that can last a full 20000 miles hahahahahahha

Get an STi
It's a great candidate for all the qualities you've listed.

Looks aside, I still would take the Z because I like the power delivery and handling. That on the edge, rear-wheel drive tail swinging "oh ****" factor was why I fell in love with these cars . It takes a certain finesse to drive them and in the end that's what I enjoy. Looks were just the icing on the cake.

Now if pure function and numbers were my focus, I would totally be looking at an STi.

cars= Passion > rationale ...for me at least.

I like the RWD dynamics better. I have way more fun driving my Z then I would driving an STi.

You Have Already Made Up Your Mind!!!!

My best friend in the whole world just bought a new 07 WRX, and it's a great car for him. He has never had a car that fast and that modable, he was like you and drooled over them for a while until he could get one. Now he has one and i suggest you go get one and stop compairing the two cars (one of which you do not want as much) and get your self a big wing and a big turbo.

I my self am waiting on the 07 z, and by the way his car is fast as hell, but when it's at a stop light you can't hide the look of the thing

Cheers

Kevin

There really isn't any comparison... The only thing they have in common is acceleration times. One's a sedan, one's a coupe. One's an oversteering RWD chassis, one's an understeering AWD chassis. One's normally aspirated, one's turbo. The cars are so different that I think if you narrow down what you want to do with the car, the choice will be clear.

Cars I'd compare to the Z would include the G35 coupe, RX-8 and maybe a slightly used Vette. Cars I'd compare with an STI would be the EVO, Mazdasped6, and VW R32. I'd never compare the STI to the Z.
