Nope...
That's the other version of the Z they were considering, and it has more of that retro look of the original 240...
To me, I think it looks like a baseball cap... I would not have gone for it.

yep
With some minor cosmetic modifications (door handles, etc.) I would probably go for it. The concept looks very similar to a pre- 1999 Carrera, and I just love the shape of that car!

Nope !
Not a chance. We are so much more fortunate with the car we are getting. Both looks and performance are great. Had nissan chosen a 4 banger the whole Z rebirth would have fallen flat. Too many great cars out there now.

1: I love the retro look and I love my 280z. If this style had been given the thumbs up, then minor things would have chaged like the handles, tail lights, stance, rims etc. I would have definetely gone with it.
2: if this style had been oked, the car would definetly NOT have been fitted with a 4 banger. Nissan was thinking about it, but the Z community would have changed that idea for sure.
...my opinion is that this original idea was intended with a 4-banger, people had a hissy fit, then nissan realized that they couldnt shoe horn the VQ into that tiny design without elongating the hood just a bit more and violating modern design regulations. So they made the car bigger, then realized that it looked funny bigger and changed the design all together. (blatant uneducated speculation)
ANYWAY! with those looks, a 4banger producing maybe 225hp and weighing in at 2600 lbs, it would be AWESOME!

All depends on the performance numbers, but probably not. That concept was slated for a 4 cyl, and I have personally sworn off 4 cyls for the rest of my life (with the possible exception of a lotus turbo).
