Default 2006...or 2007...?

Hey all, I'm new to the boards and wanted to get some perspective on some things. I read that the new 2007 350Z uses an new VQ engine with dual intake setup. Is this going to present a problem when going to FI?

I am a 350Z hopeful, I would be ready to purchase one most likely in about 6 months to a year. I've read that with a single turbo setup a 350Z can bust out about 350-400WHP. Will the newer engine be significantly better? I'm just trying to decide if it's worth holding out for the new one so-to-speak.

No one knows if it's gonna present a problem since no one has one yet. Also, no one knows what it's gonna be capable of until someone gets one and starts wrenching on it.

We could speculate about the potential of the 2007 all day. Or the 2008 for that matter. The best 350Z is the one members are driving now.

Agreed. I'd rather have the 06 that I've been driving for the past 10 months instead of the one waiting to be build over in Japan.

hrm... i drive an 06 and love it. But i never drove the 287hp motor. It seems as though maybe we have a tough time making NA power cuz if the Zs restrictive single intake, and restrictive exhaust. But the 07 sounds sexy with the dual intake manifold, equal-length headers, and 7500rpm redline.

it seems tho that the only R&D done with the VQ is FI. If a company got crazy on NA like some companies do with HONDAS maybe we can get some good power.

topsecret has the individual throttle bodies but im not throwing down 10 grand for that.

but i think we also need to find out how to take a grip of weight off our fat ladies.

hmmm... what else... nothing. i love this car no matter what. its sexy, it drifts on command and is easily controllable, the stock harmonics are to die for, and the driver-biased interior is second to none. i sat in the IS350, Z06, and many others... they feel like economy cars. s2000 is the closest tho.

Yeah, I understand it's a bit early in the game. But when I heard about the new 2007 I was elated...but then it quickly turned to something different. Seeing the twin intakes it makes me wonder...would one be forced into twin turbo. I was hoping to get an '06 and go big single.

I suppose only time reveals so I won't stress it, but I can't wait to see what the new engine is capable of and what kind of power it will make.

I'm sure you can do a custom piping and somehow make a single turbo instead of twins. But... just buy a 240sx for couple bucks and just mess around with that untill we can all get more knowledge about the 07
