Default Need some help. Trouble with another member. Pics included.

Ok, so i've been painting headlights for people around here for a while now. I've done around 40-50 sets of lights for many types of cars and now i've run into my first problem. I charged someone here $50 plus shipping for a set of lights and he says i melted the corners. Now i've been doing this a while and have NEVER heard of this. Even from other people doing their own lights. I offered to send him a new set of OEM lights plus give his $50 back, but then he says he likes the lights, but wants me to pay all his money back including shipping.

I attempted to make a post about a week ago about this guy, but thought i'd wait. I know now that i should have. He sent me his lights and told me to do them first and he'd pay me later. I told him that i'd just return his lights if he didn't like the idea of sending me $50 and he flipped out on me! I mean he made a HUGE deal about me painting his lights and not sending them back to him unpainted. The box he shipped the lights in was too small and when it arrived, a corner of each light was sticking about 1" out of the box. Probably a little more actually?

I've never heard of ONE SINGLE complaint about the work i do. This set of lights was no different than any other set i've painted and changed nothing about the way i opened or closed them. I told him it's possible that i did something wrong (seriously doubt it) and feel i made a fair offer to get him fixed up. Does anyone think that my offer is beyond what i should do or that he's trying to get his lights for free? He didn't want OEM lights and wants me to pay all shipping and $50 back.

Here is a picture of what he sent to me. Can anyone verify that these corners are in fact stock? I looked at the lights in my car and they look the same, but maybe it's just me?

If i'm wrong here, i'm sorry, but I don't think i should have to give him every dollar back and let him keep these, which is what he wants. I told him that if it were my lights, and didn't like them for whatever reason, i'd put them up on ebay. They turned out FANTASIC and i'm willing to bet they'd go for a few hundred over OEM. I've bought and sold A LOT of lights in the last 2 years. Again, if this was in fact my fault, i'd do anything to make it right. He hasn't PM'd me back since i mentioned the ebay thing.

I think my days of doing lights for $50 is over now. I've put in too much time to deal with this sort of thing.

Help me. What should i do? Am i right or wrong?

I just looked at mine and there is some slight curvature at that part so I don't see the big deal.

Anyhow, I think your offer was fair. Either replace the lights for him and he can return these to you, or he can deal with it. I wouldn;t refund the money if he now likes it.

Don't know who this person is, but it does sound (at least from this side of it) like he's trying to get them painted for free.

Got another PM from him. It appears he's going to try and bully me around although he doesn't know what he wants anymore? Acting very angry and saying how he should have gone to a professional.

"He like the lights" enough said! He should pay whatever the original deal was!

Don't let this stop you...occasionally you'll run into people who will never be satisfied.

Your offer was very fair.

Well, i went ahead and offered to cover everything. Shipping, his lights, everything, in exchange for his. I feel like im getting screwed here... But at least i know i'll probably make a little extra putting them on ebay. Still... It's the principle.

I trust your skill and judgment. Do you offer a money back guarantee is not completely satisfied?

I've been telling everyone i deal with, if they aren't happy, i'll give them their $50 back. So far, no one has taken me up on that.

I should have known not to deal with him when i saw his -1 feedback. Now he has +2. I'll have to look into this?

Well, if you offered it as a guarantee you probably should cough up the $50 and modify your policy. That sucks though. Another person trying to get something for nothing. At least post his user name so other are warned.

The -1 should have been a good indicator.

Yes, i agree with you. I would never just say, oh well, too bad for you. I want to make him happy, but now he's going overboard with the demands.

He's wanting new HID's and for me to cover his $50, plus $120 in shipping fees to get his lights back and the new set shipped to him.

Seriously, i'm done painting lights. It's all you now Mr. Zipps. I only wanted to do this to help everyone out. $50 is no profit for me and not worth this head ache.

I wanted to keep him nameless for while and see what other members suggest i do? Maybe, while getting suggestions from everyone, him and I will get everything worked out and i wont need to point him out to everyone. I'd like to keep things civil. Besides, he may stumble across this thread and make himself known all by himself. We shall see.
