did you even read the entire thread, or did you just quote the first post. IMO this should have been locked long ago. be happy with the engine you got, build it up with the money it woudl cost for the engine itself. or better yet, sell the Z and take the money you wanted to use for this rather expensive adventure, and buy yourself a Z06.

huh? this thread was a speculation on doing a swap, that one is one in progress. still not sure what you meant by your post, but oh well. still say it is a waste of time and money that could be better spent on getting a Z06 in the first place, but to each their own.

LS7 engine, $15,000

Rear mount low pressure turbo setup for swapped 350Z, $5,000
Total cost, $50,000

Cost of used '06 Z06 $65,000 (average price of 12 listings on eBay).

Look on Z06 owner's face as he gets wasted by a 350Z... Priceless.

Please don't tell me, "well the Z06 will pull more b*tches than a 350Z", because anyone who needs a car to "pull b*tches" is a sad little man.

Yea, sorry, not trying to be "smart" or a jerk. I'm at work and manger was walking by so I quick hit the post button and closed the window! LOL!

It is a LOT of money -- agreed. I wish it was so expensive to add power to our Z's...

you can do the same thing with a TT and a good tune on a built VQ, plus probably save a few thousand in the process

FI has its own set of headaches. Some people like naturally aspirated setups.

A fully built TT VQ will NOT make the same power as a turbo LS7... not even close. Let's not even get in to the reliability comparison either. I've owned a few highly stressed, built motor cars. They're definitely not daily drivable.

I completely agree and I did go through the thread. I hate the vette and everything GM, Ford, and Chrysler make, but if this guy want's to do this swap, more power to him. That's all i was saying. This swap would probably be less expensive than a TT kit and an engine build when everything is totalled up, so whatever. This guy has already purchased the engine, so he is probably proceeding as he has planned regardless of what anyone thinks.

This is definitely wrong. There is already a stroked vq tt on the forums, which is making over 1000 hp to the wheels. If you are building a VQ, might as well go with the stroker kit at the same time IMO if you have the cash. This setup will definitely kill a TT Z06. Isn't the TT kit (lingenfelter and such) over $30k to begin with? In terms of reliability Japanese (built or unbuilt) > American (built or unbuilt)

The TT C6Z kit is quite a bit more than 30k, however, that includes alot of work done to the car, not just the motor.

BTW, put up or stfu about your motor reliability claims!

+1 about the motor. as much as i love my Z and hated my 98 SS as a car in general. I could never complain about the LS1 motor. that thing is a beauty and a work horse. no reliability issues whatsoever. only if i could have said that about the rest of the car.

I was responding to someone who said the engine build with the LS7 swap would be cheaper than just TT the VQ in the Z and building upon that.

I wasn't speaking about the lingenfelter package...my bad for the misunderstanding.

I knew that was pricey.

HURR DUMBESTIC AM I RITE?

This is a really stupid statement in this context. Boosting a VQ to 500+ bhp is going to make it hilariously unreliable compared to a LSx at equal horsepower.

What about handling and balance of the Z after a built VQ TT setup is installed? I read that it adds 250lbs to the front-end of the car. Is that true? How much does an NA VQ weigh? Now much does an LS2 or LS7 weight? I got my Z down to 3025 dry (well almost dry, it had tranny fluid, brake fluid, oil and 1 gallon of gas). Just wondering how the balance of the car would be affected.
