okay, so you stated your opinion, make your own choice. Why are you asking us what's so great about it when you're just going to say that you're dissapointed. It's not like you can go to nissan and tell them that you're dissapointed and they'll give you a 350hp z or a 200hp g because you feel that way. you want more power from the z? go fi.

going to have to drive them for yourself...the cars are very similar obviously. this isnt like an STI vs Z debate. Z and G are in the same family.

the G is more expensive though, so you're paying for the extra luxury if thats what you want.

07 base Z = $27,900

07 base G = $33,450

listen, you cant honestly say that the Z got 5.8.
yes, maybe that day, but other than that, all numbers have been better.
for example, motor trend got 5.3 to 60mph, and 13.0 for 100mph. and thats on the 2004 model.
car and driver got 5.4 in 2003.
the 35th anniversary got 5.6.
so 5.8 was just a bad take off.
i say you go for a Z.
the g is a sporty ,but not a true sports car like the z.
not to mention that the z is faster.

We could magazine race all day long, but I take exception to the numbers here. I have the issue of Car and Driver where they tested the '05 35th anniversary and it seems those numbers stuck (0-60 of 5.8). The fact is, C&D says that with that particular test, there was little traction and the numbers would have surely been better (also of note is that they have a weight of a little over 3300 pounds). The same magazine tested the touring model in 2002 with a 6 speed and got a 0-60 of 5.4 and a sub 14-second quarter. I can't drive like those guys, but I imagine the car is much quicker for 2006 than is stated.

there are many sedans that are just as fast or faster than a 350Z. but i don't think the G35 sedan handles as well...and is probably 200lbs. heavier.

The performance differences between cars aren't always shown by a mag. A solid axle car will often "handle" fine in a mag because the skid pad test comes out good, better readers will compare the slalom, and the best will realize that the weight difference give the Z a top speed, cornering and braking advantage. The acceleration difference has me stumped....oh wait, gearing...maybe? I dunno, I can't find G35 gearing specs

THe g35 sedan has the hr engine, while the 06 Z has the older rev up model.

There's no point. Don't get one. Go buy a RX8. Your screen name says it all.

Actually RX8 and 350z are equal around a track with good drivers.
The 8 just has no torque at all, so most people don't like it. It also doesn't look as good.
The 8 also has a nicer interior imo, and a back seat, so it ideal for women, or younger people who have kids. But not people serious about a sport car.

If the G35 sedan is actually pulling a 5.2, then the Z would at worst run around 5.0. We may actually see a 4.9 out of it. I originally guessed around 5.3.

If you want a sports car then the Z is the obvious choice.
If you need room then the G.

This comparison is useless. He's comparing an 07 g's specs to an 06 Z. The 07 g obviously has the faster HR Engine. The 07 Z is obviously gonna be faster.
