Default How did you secure your 350Z?

When/how did everyone pre-order? Has anyone here bought another person's spot in line on Ebay?

Due to a fortunate turn of events in the last week, I got $33,000 of my bank's money to spend. I'm just looking for a new Z to buy, daytona blue. SIGH....I'm reading the forums and looking dreamily at all of you who had pre-ordered.

I pre-ordered in April '02, but supposedly there was an error on my order and NNA's records show that my pre-order was received on Jan '02... Very nice surprise, as now my car will be delivered around September (according to NNA) as opposed to the November date my dealership told me originally.

THANK GOD!

Oh, and $500 refundable deposit.

I waited until they released pics of the "final" car - which was Oct 26th, 2001 - I placed a deposit that day at the only dealer that was taking them that early (courtesy nissan in dallas). At the time I was really worried about price gouging ala the S2K, and Courtesy was promising MSRP, so I went for it.
I think it was the prudent thing to do at the time, but in retrospect I probably could have easily ordered one from a local dealer once they officially started the pre-order program in Jan.
Ah well, the end result is I get to drive from Dallas to San Diego to break in my car. By the time I get it home, it will be ready to run full bore.

Painstakingly? 1.5 years ago personally... The first week in Jan. 2k2 the order was sent from my dealer. I feel for you bro - it's going to be a tough ride now that pre-orders are closed. I'd say eBay would be a good place to start. Go down to your local dealer TODAY and try and get someone to commit to you MSRP. The sooner the better.

I pre-ordered May 17th as a birthday present too myself. I waited so long because I wasn't sure about doing a pre-order then I found a dealer that was asking for zero down so I went for it. So far I've gotten everything in writing, everything from NNA, and all I'm waiting for now is the car.

Default Got in line!

I JUST placed a $500 deposit at Cerritos Nissan, #8 on the waiting list. 50 pre-orders, hopefully 8 will drop out. Dealer will sell for MSRP. So now I have hope...

Had another dealer who had 13 pre-orders, had 3 people drop out and that dealer will be keeping those as dealer stock. No doubt to slap a markup on them. Shady ****'s...

Twinz, you could have saved yourself $1000, only if you were a devoted fan of my350z.com. A couple of days ago, there was a post from GROUPZ.com offering $1000 off MSRP from Cerritos Nissan.

If only you had done your homework.

Thanks for the info. Actually, I'm just happy to get for MSRP. I was wondering how icyblue got his for $1000 below invoice! I just found out about this site last night from a link on ebay.

The reason why I didn't know about this was because I didn't decide I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted a Z until yesterday. I was this close *holds finger about an inch apart* to buying a BMW 325Ci (whew!!). Since yesterday, I've called just about every Nissan dealership in Southern California. Cerritos has the largest allotment (due to sales volume) and was willing to sell every one of them for MSRP. Everybody is sold out of the preorders.

Now I have officially become obsessed with the new Z.

Hmm.. wish that it wasn't too late to save you $1000 man...

You should talk to the people over at GROUPZ.com because they have a special relationship with Cerritos Nissan. If you are a groupz member, you get the $1000 below MSRP. However, you may just join GROUPZ anyhow, because I'm sure they'll have special savings down the road as well on maintenence and other crap.

Welcome to the board though!

Default GOT 350Z

I called my salesman at the local Nissan dealership, and asked what it would take to preorder. He said $1K and I told him I could handle that. I went in the next day and gave them a check and they wrote up the order selling me the car for MSRP. The contract says $1K non-refundable, but I am a repeat customer so if I had to cancel for some reason, I feel confident I would get it back.

Yeah Boomer, but you don't live in California where your car is a good indicator of how often you get laid. Demand here is high.

I did live in Californiacation for a couple of years but I was already married, so the point is moot. However, I do live in a college town(Univ. of Okla.) with 20.000 or so students, a substantial number who live here year round. A lot of them buy cars in my market instead of the one they came from originally and many of them are hardly starving, ie. Porsches, BMWs, and a lot of high end cars are abundant here.

After all, our football coach makes $2M a year. Since Steve Spurrier left Florida U., Bob Stoops is the highest paid football coach in the country, so there is a lot of money where I live.

Did I say invoice? Sorry if I did, it's $1000 off MSRP. Don't worry, you could still get the discount, just make sure you're a GroupZ member before you take delivery. You need to show the dealer proof that you are though, or else no 1k off for you.
