I barely drive my car hard, and I am going to have a new tranny installed wed. Nissan is aware of the problem, just havent said anything public (i think). Its the clevis/clovis (sp?) that is bad, and there is a chance that it damaged the tranny, so they replace both to be safe.

GUYS!! you MUST try this!!!

i was a bit skeptical at first when i read the z is easy to shift without the clutch. i tried it today and i was so surprised that it actually worked VERY WELL!! the ONLY trick is that you have to match the rpm after the shift. for instance, if i pull the gear out of 2nd to go into third, i just easy the shifter out and then wait about .5 sec and then slide it into 3rd. it works so well!! NO GRIND OR ANYTHING!! omg i am so extatic right now that i finally know to do it. if u let the rev drop too low just gas it a little and the gear will slide in itself. TRY IT!!

and if they drop to low does it gring before sliding in? as long as race cars continue to use a clutch when shifting, I will too. not including clutchless manuals, they still keep the clutch even tho assuredly the computer could perfectly match revs for them.

I tried it too on the Z, it is amazing how easy it is, there is no grind at all, its like it won't let you grind. You rev it up a little, and when it gets to the right rev, it allows you to place it in gear, 2nd real easy, third easy-but you must even it right after you pop it in gear.
