The '07 hood is an after-thought design and just doesn’t fit with the profile of the Z. I bet you Nissan tried their best to fit the new engine in the engine bay without modifying the hood but couldn't. They tried to stir up some of the emotions by copying the hump on classic original Z car but came up short. Nissan did a rush job on the 07 and is it very hard to improve on perfection. You definitely can't do a rush job and expect to get a way with it, hence the backlash. For the most part all of us here are Z lovers and if Nissan had indisputably put a good looking hood on the car no one would have anything negative to say. We would all be happy, from 03-06 to 07 owners. The truth of the matter is Nissan did a rush job and just slapped something on there to get a product to its dealerships on time. Polarizing your customers because of shabby design work is not good business by Nissan IMO.

If I had a choice between the 06 and 07, I would get the 07 (more power is always good) with hopes that someone who didn't fall asleep when he/she was being taught car design would come up with a hood that compliments the already perfect lines of the Z. And if no aftermarket company accomplished this feat, I would use it for 2 years, trade it for the redesigned 2009 model which I am hoping would be designed properly with the engine height in mind.

I ran a 14.3 @ 99 with mine back in October. I'll post the slip if you want.
I think that's slow compared to other 06's.
