Default 1700 mile road trip Z stats

I just drove my 2003 350Z A/T Touring model from Kansas City to Hollywood CA. It took 3 days and 2 nights and this is how the Z performed. All these numbers are off the computer.

Total distance=1700miles

Trip time=25 hours

Average MPG=29.6

Average speed=66 mph...including traffic jams in the rocky mountains

I could go 500 miles on a tank of gas and still have 80 miles until empty.

oil burned=0 quarts.

That is all highway driving with the cruise control on most of the time.

Great mileage! I would have died of boredom at 66. Through the mountains, sounds like fun.

The motor is one of the best features of the Z.

You want power, you got power!

You want milage, you got milage.

Highway mileage sounds about right for the Z. Get it up to speed, set the cruise control and the ECU leans the mixture out perfectly! I've had road trips in my Redline track model that I verified 30 MPG running mostly at 75 MPH.

I don't think the Z gets enough credit for being economical to drive.

66 is the average speed, I'm guessing. So that means its the median of a higher and lower number.

I get 27mpg or a little better as long as I stay under 75mph. The Z is just as good as my 4cly Honda Accord on road trips.

LOL i'm glad i'm not the only one who's avg mpg is in the 13-14mpg range.

It's only going to get worse in the summer. It was warm enough for the first time yesterday to open my windows, and every stoplight i could hear the addictive sound of my exhaust echoing off the surrounding cars. End result was a lot 5000+rpm upshifts.

This car sounds a lot better from the outside than from the inside.

I get what the OP states: 28-29 mpg highway at or under 70 mph.

Past this, I am getting 20-22 city, and at least 24-25 mixed (highway/city). I’m old enough to be a grampa, but I don’t drive like one. VDC is ON when driving on potentially slippery surfaces (rain, sand, etc.) and OFF whenever I feel it’s safe to do so.

It is just great to have an engine with tons of torque, but one that is a “mpg miser.” The mileage is one of the Z’s best features. I’m driving a 2003 Performance model with no mods (stock wheels and tires).
