I tell you what is scary... how that car is only worth 15k?

I was looking at Prelude's online earlier today. I saw a 2001 with about 45k miles for $15k. Granted, they probably won't get it, but it would probably get $13-14k.

Here, you have a car thats five years newer, a lot better in many ways, yet with a few thousand more miles, is worth the same. Its amazing how fast this car depreciates.

this car would be great if you wanted an extra car to screw around with. Maybe tracking with it, or learn how to drift... Man if you have the extra cash why not pick it up as a toy

With that many miles the car looks in great shape from the outside

+1 on 12k cash. that many miles the dealer is just itching to get it off the lot. Buy it and drive the **** out of the motor, then do a full TT build with the 10k you saved off buying a worthwhile Z.

I have seen this car and it is clean. That is a ton of miles for an 03. Must have been doing 25k-30K per year.

Can’t tell for sure from the ad, but it appears to have stock 17” wheels and nothing else, so I’m guessing it’s a Base model (the ad doesn’t mention TCS, so it’s probably not even an Enthusiast model). If that guess is correct, it is probably equipped with a MT. So… at that mileage (and you’re past the 60K drive train warranty), you might need:
1) Clutch
2) Transmission (2003 fault)
3) Who knows what else on a car with this much mileage

I would offer no more than $10.5K. At that price you can replace the clutch, repair or replace the transmission (if necessary), upgrade the suspension, and do an engine build-up; and keep the final investment under $22K. That is a lot more than the car is worth “blue book,” but you would have a pretty great car after doing all that. The bolsters on the driver’s seat are probably worn out as well, so you may need to add new seats into the refurbishment cost.

….OR…

Simply buy a low mileage (<30K miles) Performance or Touring model for $18.5 K. These models have VDC (and TCS) and VLSD. That’s probably a better choice unless you want to do a build-up.

I need to move to where you live. There is no way in hell you are getting an '03 Enthusiast or Touring for $18.5k anywhere around here (unless its Private Party and that is still hard).
