I have an '07 with about 2500 miles on it. I have yet to have this issue. It has seen quite a few hard launches and canyon runs with lots of shifting at redline. It has not skipped a beat

it could possibly lead me to conclude things, but then, i'd be assuming that most 350z owners on this forum can't drive, which would be wrong (i hope). but there hasn't been any hard data to say that only people who replaced one transmission replaced multiple ones so i can't assume anything.

Can you retro fit the real dipstick to the older cars?

There is a sticky thread regarding the transmissions, lots of good info.
In which forum? I've been looking everywhere for this sticky and can't find it.

Is it still there?

[QUOTE=
With any car you run some risk; actually Z does better than most on relability.[/QUOTE]

+1. Check Consumer's Reports. The 350Z is a very reliable car. Whatever problems there are with oil consumption do not show up in the statistics on engine reliability, making one wonder if the reports on the forum represent a biased sample. My 2006 is an AT with almost 3000 miles on it. Only problem was with the air pressure sensor and that was corrected. Otherwise, all is well.

Did Nissan decided to take any action with the oil comsumption issues with 06 Z's?

I got a 06 Z enthusiast with 5100 miles on it. notice slight of burnt smell when I sniff on the dipstick.

Right here. 75k miles. Got it at 71k. As far as I know, it's all original. Everything is creamy, including the transmission.

I didn't reply to your thread though because there have already been about fifty threads like this since I've been here. I replied to the first ten I saw and then gave up. The search function is your friend.

Right here, too!

Never an issue and everything is smooth as silk. I have 40k miles on an '03 Track w/ OEM DVD Nav. (original owner).

I may never let it go, even if I buy an '07 or '08 (waiting to see the '08's).
