y does everyone hate on z's??
Ladies and gents, I agree with what Keatonus is saying. Why? Because most of what he is pointing out is something all of us have felt, but never really put it into words.
Myself... I sort of get put off by the fact that Nissan even produced an automatic Z. Sure, you may feel the same way about the Z as me and may not be able to drive manual, but it grinds my gears for the simple fact that any Jane or Joe can drive a car that I feel very passionately about, and wouldn't give 2 ****s if they had to drive something else tomorrow. There's always the majority of owners who buy the car based on looks... tell them the car is actually called a "Fairlady Z" and watch their dumb *** looks. I despise them for desecrating my Z. Its also a saving grace, because the G35C gets it even worse, and I was considering buying one until this very topic wormed its way to the forefront of my mind.
Keatonus is ragging on poseurs and ignorants who drive the Z because they think it pumps their status.. and he clearly said he supports enthusiasts who value what their car really means, that it goes beyond everyday transportation. I resent those asshats who take the Z for granted more than anyone could know, and wish they would drive 3 series BMW's or Acura TSX's instead of my Z!

i just disagree with keatonus because he makes it sound like nearly (not all) z owners are ignorant a holes who bought the car for it's looks but only true enthusiasts own 300 tt's. the rest own N/A versions. i can tell you from experience tho that nearly all of the fastest cars near me are owned by people who have money and little car knowlege. there's a kid that also went to highschool with me that owned an evo and an ls2 gto...at the same time, both were his and his only, not his dad's cars. the kid had *** loads of money but knew nothing about cars and went through 3 clutches by 14k miles on the evo. he had no idea how to drive and had nearly no knowlege but hey he had a 300hp car and a 400hp car one which was turboed so he must be an enthusiast right?
./agree Ktainos
./agree KmanZ.
I have great respect for 300zxTT no matter what 9times x 10 The driver knows and appreciates his car. Which is more than I can say for some of these smug Florida 350z drivers.

The "zomg I have the coolest car on the planet!!!1 everybody look at me I'm cool! 300Z? what's a 300Z? I thought this was the first and only Z!!"
If you're a true enthusiast who knows the Z legacy, kudos, you have won my respect, for the rest of the posers, you suck.

first of all, kid, if you had any respect for the Z legacy you wouldn't hate Z's in general. you might hate the people that drive them but take that hate elsewhere. another thing that bothered me is that you should never be able to hate someone else's personal things enough to touch their hard-earned property

.That's what I'm gonna say in my defense, I said more, but it's not worth reading or saying cause it'd stir up more junk.
just let it die.

The Z community is in a league all of its own. We are not elitists but enthusiasts. Owning a Z is one of the best things I've ever done and I've yet to enjoy a car as much as I've enjoyed my Z. And the fact remains if I could find a 280/300 that ran around here, I'd buy those too!

btw....forza ferrari, off to a good start this year
Just shows that Nissan came up with a worthy sports car... I've never been shown the thumbs down!?
I respect other peoples property period and only hope for the same in return. Would I knock down someone I caught ******* up my car... yes, but not to bad, lol!
Living here in Chicago, I've raced a rediculous amount of fine cars. The races usually end with a smile and a wave or thumbs up. I guess a lot of cool people live in Chicago

Wow, I am shocked at how hypocritical some of you are. When you look at someone driving a car, how do you know what state of enthusiasm they have for it. And if they don't give you a wave, maybe their mind is on something else. You just don't know.
As an example, this lady I know, in her early 50s, gray hair, has been a Corvette enthusiast since she was a kid. Talking to her, she knows what motor etc. came with what year and model, what the good years are, you name it. When she decided to buy her own when the kids moved out, she puored over the adds for almost a year for the right car to come along and finally got it. Driving it, she looks like someone's mom in a Corvette, but I can tell you, she appreciates every thing about it (and calls me all the time with her latest adventure). Yet you guys would look at her and think she is undeserving because of how she looks and who you think she is.
Another example,
I was at a Z gathering a while back and sat next to a guy who claimed to have built up his 300 up from scratch and then talked down to me the whole time. I presume (although I don't know for sure) he did this because he believed that because I had a 350Z I had no idea how to wrench on a car and that I was one of these undeserving owners you guys are referring to. Lucky for me I did not let this one person taint my perspective of all other non 350 owners because since then I have met quite a few that have been great company.
Sure most people can buy a 350Z, that was Nissan's intention as they are trying to remain in the black these days but judging who is an enthusiast and who bought a "sexy car" is impossible looking through the glass at 75mph.
Maybe some of you super enthusiast have been judged unworthy by others?
Chris

I let the car make or break my decision to own it, not what types of people drive it, or what the community for that car is like. What a stupid reason to buy or not buy something. I chose to buy the Z because I wanted to own a Z, and not for any other reason. Luckily, in my area, I maybe see 3-4 per week, so they aren't REALLY common, but they are around. And yes, some of the drivers are women or people that you can be fairly sure are not enthusiasts, but who really cares? I AM an enthusiast, and there is a very strong community of Z enthusiasts out there, many of whom are on this site.
Sure, in some areas of the country the Z's are extremely prevailent, but there are things you can do to your car to make it unique. Customize it! Make it stand out from the pack. Make it your own. That way your not driving the same car that all these "non-enthusiasts" are driving, but instead driving something that you created, that is all your own
That's the nice thing about a free society. You have the freedom to do what you want. Exercise your power and don't try to criticize or limit others from doing the same...
Sort of back on topic: I actually had a guy in an 07 Vette give me the thumbs up the other day on the freeway. Kinda surprised me because I thought to myself at the time "okay, you're car is at least 20K more than mine", but it was still cool to get that respect...

So Nissan made a great sports car that alot of people like and buy. Is this bad?
Does it "deserve" to share the Z name that your 300zx pocess? Sure it does. Its an inexpensive 2 seat sports car with a powerful engine. Sounds like a Z to me.
As far as handling, some say its not great where others (5th gear for example) love it.
Nissan is making $$ on this Z and its striving where the 300zx (which was my dream car when it came out) did not due to its price. Dont hate.

BTW, I didn't notice the first time since it wasn't completely flat. I have the touring model so it comes with TPS. Once I was driving over 20mph, it gave me the crazy beeping and warning. It really isn't that hard to figure out.

Keatonus all i gotta say is STFU, you are making yourself look like an a-hole. I have had 2 Zs before, one was 1990 2+2 (N/A) and another was 1993 Twin Turbo both in pearl white..and guess what? I bought a 350Z! IF you think Z is worth a lot or is a semi-rare car then you are wrong. I see 300ZX's all the time, n/a's AND twin turbos. You made a point saying Z enthusiasts drive Twin Turbo and non Z enthusiasts drive n/a...wtf did you get that idea from?? My friend has a 300zx 2+2 which is converted into a TWIN TURBO. His is the only Z in my town which is 2+2 and TT. Back in the days it was a big deal to convert 2+2 into TT but now i think more people have done this. "anywhoo" the Z is only worth about 3-4k for the twin turbo..so take that 3-4k car out of here because it seems like you are not a Z enth. If you knew the history of Z then you would know how the 350Z was made and WHO MADE it. Do you know who made the Z's? and who was really behind 350Z? who brought it back? oh yeah and he wasn't an enthusiast right? He just made the 350Z just to make money right? umm hmm...now STFU kuz rather than blaming others for being non-enth., you show valid points of you yourself not being a Z enth. So w/e keep talking smack if you want.
Let me just say my little two lines. First off, when I buy a car... it isn't to impress anyone. I buy a car for MY enjoyment. I could care less if Joe Somebody likes my car or not. To the dude who has the 300ZX. I love the ZX, I wish I could find one and get it for my enjoyment. Same goes for the Supra and the RX-7. These are all cars I love. You putting the Z down or whatever else you said.. goes in one ear and goes out the other..Let's say I go to a traffic light and some dude in (flashy nice car A) gives me a thumbs down. I honestly couldn't care ANY less lol. If he gives me a thumbs up... COOL. Alot of you guys are giving importance to things that are unimportant. Ever since the Ferrari Testarossa came out my dad drooled over it for years but had to put off because of family obligations. My dad can easily afford something more expensive and you know what his favorite Ferrari is the Testarossa. He finally bought his F-car a few years ago and is in love everytime he drives it. Wether he loses to a built civic, or beats every car on the road... he loves his car just as much as anyone could. That's what being a real enthusiast is. Buying a car to impress or showoff is not what an enthusiast is. We call those people posers where I come from..

I always dreamed of owning a Z when I was a child. As time grew and I came into the tuning/modding/show scene I went through many a car, but never was financially able to pick up the Z of my dreams. I came close to finding a 300, and a decent 280, but nothing ever panned out..
Two weeks ago, I decided that you only live once and that if one is to enjoy life, one must manifest his dreams. So through a strange sequence of events I traded my "stripped down" sema car, for a bone stock Z. Did I take a financial loss? YES.. Do I regret it it? NO...
This car fits me like a glove, responds how I want it to respond, and it feels organically as if it were a living breathing extension of me. I went to a local car meet this weekend and even with dealer plates on the *** of it, people kept turning heads. Curvy, sleek, black, and roaring... The Z is it..
I've decided this will be the last car I own, even if I have to rebuild it every 10 years. This machine is a thing of purity, beauty, and to all of the kids with a pocket full of cash who can't appreciate that thought form, they are the ones that deserve the THUMBS DOWN!
To all of you who love your Z... because it's a Z... because it's yours and because you worked your *** off for it... HATS off to you my friends... the best is yet to come!
Now time to go detail my Z
