I originally just asked a simple question, didn't mean for all this to arise from a simple question haha. But I agree, anyone driving a "Z" is driving a gorgeous car. Lets just all be thankful! haha

From what I see in the drag section, you loose about 20% power if you leave the brake light in and preload (eg thread "Dragging AT"), but maybe this is a myth.

It also causes problems on the track.

Actually, I would rather be wrong on this, since it just seems to much stupid electronics if you cannot preload a Z auto.

the dumbest reason/excuse for buying an AT is because it is "FASTER" than the MT. i bet you werent even thinking of which transmission is faster when you bought that computerized shifting car.

just admit, you go for it because you are too "lazy", or a nicer word "tired" of shifting all the time. so you went with something that's EASY to drive.

by the way ducky, have u felt the delay yet? or do you still say you have none? how much delay you get when u shift from 5 -> 2? ... 2 seconds? i'm 20 by the way, i live on my own, and bought my own car... no1 payed for ****. so i had to make my decision well thought out. 06 350z roadster MT touring... and till this day... ahem,... like almost a year ago? not "few months" i have yet to regret any decision on this car and it's configuration. not to be cocky, but i think i handle the MT better than quite a few people. i'm ready anytime if you would like to challenge me with same car MT, i highly doubt i'd lose to a 30 years old like you. so dont give me this i've drove MT for 50 years so therefore i am an awesome professional.

oh and,... so... your grandma is 90 years old and can still drive a car? LOL... please? now that i wonder if anything else you say is a fact, or just plain bull **** just to make yourself look "cooler"?

my argument isnt that the AT is slower, but... i do say that it is just that much less fun to race with.

you get the same reply over and over on this thread...

those that have MT will say... AT are boring lazy ***,... MT is faster (MT is faster actually, in a hands of a good driver; launch well, 6gears, good shifts)

and those that have an AT will say... my car is still fun to drive... my car can shift faster because it is computerized making less mistakes, my car can smoke any MT on drag... blah blah blah blah.

Z isnt just for drag... what about race course? rally? drift? sport car are meant to be driven in a sporty manner. of course nissan isnt gonna make a car that only provide MT... that's all part of business, some people just like to cruise, ahem *cough* girls and oldies *cough*. else... there's no other reason to make a sport car AT.

really, it doesnt even matter what is faster... if you have the money, you can always make one car faster than the other.

ah... bringing a dead topic back to life. people that drives an AT sure fight hard for their beloved Z ^^ .... so where am i wrong? i dont go on the internet every day to check this site unlike some of you.

I couldn't care less what people drive whether it is manual or auto. I did not say I was a professional but rather I have been driving manual since I was a kid and it seems like you have just discovered it.

My problem is with your childish comments such as "AT are for girls" etc etc. Why don't you just repect what people have chosen to drive instead of insulting them? You chose to race on the streets and I don't. I have owned plenty of stick shift cars and now am trying an AT. One of my last company cars in England was an Evo.

....oh and yes my grandma is about 80 something and still drives stick. No big deal really.

So say what what you want, I'm not interested.

Default An AT

I bought an AT and am happy with it...so far. I have driven MT cars for years but had a line on a 2005 ZR Touring PPW 5AT that someone traded in with 4400 miles on it. Absolutely cherry. Beautiful thing with a lot of life in it.

I didn't buy it because it was an AT or it wasn't a MT, I bought it because it was a ZR and I wanted a ZR. The fact that both knees are shot does argue for the AT but if it were a MT I would have worked with it.

Since we all love Zs what's the big deal? There are a lot of people out there that would give their left nut to own one.

Well some people think driving stick is some ultrahard rare god giving skill (probably because it was really tuff for them to learn ). LOL if learning stick were on a skill scale, it would rate somewhere between reversing a tricycle and untangling christmas tree lights (tho sometimes I admit the latter can be a real B*tch )
