Default Best 3 Basic Modifications

I just read through the top 100 asked questions and I left the thread disappointed and un-enlightened. Normally, my grass grazing times are done on SupraForums ( being a Supra owner and all… ) but my father is a proud owner of a 350Z rag-top. Honestly, I rather like the car but HATE the clutch. Currently his only modification is 18” crome rims. He does like the idea of an exhaust but is too damn cheap to buy one. He’s a 60 year old man with a passion for nice sounding cars and top-quality products. If I were to buy him between 3 to 5 top quality modifications for his car, what should they be? Please be specific!

Regards,
Brian

I/H/E... Intake, headers, exhaust. These are usually the first three mods for any car.

Could you be more specific? Which brands are favored? Has the Z community ever done any bench testing? Just out of curiosity, will he really need to have his ECU re-flashed to take advantage of these modifications? I read that in the top-100 questions asked. That just seems crazy to have to re-flash and ECU for an intake.

What's your budget? If money is not an issue, here's all you need: 1 - TT; 2 - 3" exhaust; 3 - 3.3 FD. 'Nuff said.

I don't really have much restriction on the budget but I'm not throwing down $4,000 on a turbo-kit, $8,000 on a built motor, etc. I'm going to buy him the basics, then if he likes the results he'll buy his own **** thereafter. If you name the parts you think I should look into - I'll do just that. Sorry I couldn't be more specific on my budget, because it's relative to how many things, what they are, who makes them, how well they are supposed to perform, etc.

I also find myself getting bit by the 'mod bug'.
I just ordered from Forged Performance in Atlanta:

1) JWT Pop Charger
2) MREV2 Lower Plenum collector + 5/16 CU Spacer
3) Greddy Evo TT Exhaust (FI ready)
4) Hotchkis Springs & Sways (".75 lower)
5) Stoptech Stage II Slotted Brembo Brake upgrade.
6) Before & After Dynos

These mods are a nice balance + they can all be re-used in the future when going from NA to FI.

$4,600 USD & change includes labor. You guys really should see the Forged Performance shop!! I was speechless... World class... Truly a sight to behold. Nothing but *built* Z's & G's from all over the country!! Sharif has a top rate shop with really nice folks. :-)

If you want just the really basic mods for ~$500, here are my recommendations (and they are "power" mods):
1 - JWT Popcharger
2 - Motordyne 5/16" Plenum Spacer
3 - Y-Pipe

If he likes sound, a great mod would be the pop-charger. Easy to install, only ~$110, and the sound difference is awesome. Check out this video I made:
