You really can't blame them. It is hard to understand how you could flip the Z on its roof going only 20mph.

its almost Impossibl;e to flip a z goin 20mph unless u drive over a sttep ramp on 2 wheels...as a drifter i cant even flip mine goin 70... wth?

I would not recommend that you get another sports car until you can handle something a little more tame, stick with your eclipse for a while till you get the skills to handle a 20 mph turn in a Z.

Unless you hit a patch of antifreeze or pulled the emergency brake, or the turn was like 90 degrees or something, just not buying it. let us know what the black box says. Need more info!

I totalled my Supercharged Miata and while I was mad at the time the experience made me realize cars come and go I was very lucky to not be hurt, dead, or killed or injured someone else. If you keep driving in an immature manner as I did with my Miata you can risk your license for 2+ years trust me I know

but ya. sorry for your loss. seems to me that if you were going 35 the crash would have been alot worse. maybe it would have rooled a few times.

It was most likely wreckless driving.

 

Important thing is your ok and no one else was hurt i know it must ok killed you to see your Z like that.But atleast your still in one piece your safety comes first you will get another Z she's fiesty you gotta respect the Z and its power.

On a side note, the pics really highlight the smooth underbody of the Z.

 

 

My guess is careless... Unless they can prove he was going faster then 20... or have witnesses stating otherwise... His statement saying he was going 20 will allow for a maximum careless driving more then likely. (at least in Oregon thats how it works)

Man, sorry to hear about the wreck. Was your car a base model? I see WAY too many wrecks of poeple that came from FWD cars to a RWD sports car that simply don't know how to handle it (it can be a pretty big adjustment); you really have to learn to respect the RWD and VDC prob could have saved your @ss (if you didn't have it). BTW, the Z does not have a "black box" that retains that kind of info.

As a firemedic I would have to say 20mph is crap.. I've never seen a low center mass car like that up on it's side much less the roof going down into a normal ditch..(unless this was some rediculous ditch with cement drain tunnels or something that you caught) I would have to guess at LEAST 40mph (if you caught something hard while skidding) and knowing what you drive I would guess much faster (I push 25mph ramps at around 65~70mph in a 'poor *** handling american crap car' so I know what you are capable of). Sorry to hear about the loss bro...

Best thing you could ever do for a trooper is give him/her some respect and keep calm. You got lucky from the sound of it that she didn't cuff you, some troopers are complete ****** and some are just doing their jobs. Sounds like you got a *****.

As far as yelling at idiots who can't wait a few minutes while an accident is cleaned up.. well can't say I havn't done the same. He should have stuck down a spike strip in the road for the ones who can't follow simply orders.
