Default color distribution on pre sales

I was speaking to a Nissan sales manager in Washington and he claims that over 80% of the Washington preorders are either chrom or silverstone. Silver is an obvious popular color but will be plain with 80%+ that color.

Here's my question... we live in a city that has gray nearly 70% of the year... why the hell would you want a gray car?!?!!???

I needed sun so i got...

<<<<

There's very few of us man... thank goodness. I don't want a worn out color. How many flippin' silver BMW's do you see on the road here? I don't think BMW has any other color but Silver being shipped to Seattle.

the only downside i can see to the Lemans sunset is longevity. With colors that are trendy now(trust me, i love that color!!!) after 4-5 years they tend to look out of date. While silver/black/white are always fashionable. Now, does that mean Lemans Sunset is not worth it? Not at all! You'll always stand out with it.

I personal taste is Silver and Blue. I made a big mistake not ordering Blue but silver was the color at time of purchase that i liked.

I agree sunsetman. Why buy a distintive sports car just to have it blend in with 50% of cars on the road?

With the three LeMans Sunsets here on this post from Seattle. If we see one on the road here there is a good chance it is one of us!

Default Colors

I chose the Brickyard because it does "stand" out. Some people have a difficulty seeing siver or gray cars because some of the shades are close to the color of the road! I am no exception, I started to pull out in front of a pewter gray truck in my own neighborhood because he was driving fast farther down the block. If I hadn't looked twice, I would have pulled out in front of him because my first look didn't pick him up.

I first considered a white, my last two cars were white, but my wife wasn't keen on having another white car. So I went for the Brickyard with only the small pic on the preorder page as a guide; WOW, am I glad I did!

Sunset, Brickyard and Daytona are COLORS. Tough to make a decision between them if color is desired. Oops, Redline might fit in there also!

I picked Brickyard mainly because I thought that would be the color least picked by other Z owners, so I wanted to be different. I saw an SC430 about the same color and man it was gorgeous! Plus I figured I'd have a different color car at night.

Can't wait to slap about a dozen coats o' Zaino on that Brickyard color. I saw what it did for my 10 year old dark green car. It is going to look awesome on the NEW Brickyard!

Default don't forget door dings

I should have mentioned how door dings will look on chrome. Likely to stand out on chrome like they do on black. Dings are painful for any new car owner and the worst they look the more they hurt. White is a unique color with most flocking to silver and chrome. White will offer something different and the best at hiding defects.

Archduke,

Black is the "absence" of color. Black is where no color exists.

Black is evil. Wait, that's good.......

Black = Awesome color... gets dirty quick

Blue = Very nice color... didn't know it was going to be so beautiful or else I may have got it

Brickyard = Another VERY nice color... almost got it but it rains here in Seattle and it's too hard to keep clean. Also... maroon = conservative IMHO

Silver = played out

Silverstone = nice color... played

white = played out... not my kinda color

Redline = AWESOME COLOR... But it's 80s!

Sunset = bold, different, loud, in-your-face, concept color - easy choice

More and more orange cars are coming out. It's not going to be a color that disappears in the long run. It's a nice contrast to the played out silver.

Another reason why silver might be so popular in most cars, not just the Z, is that it's one of the colors that holds a high resale value and is easier to take care of. Well, at least that is the general perception.

I have a blue car now and if I leave it parked for several hours I can start to see the dust contrasted by the color. With a silver colored car it doesn't show up as much. But I can accept that because I just dust it down or drive at a brisk pace and voila! But water spots show up easily, and you don't see it as much on silver. Another reason...

I agree though. It does seem played out. It's the new white.

"Whats o'zaino ? And where can i get it ?"

Bill, I didn't know if you were kidding or not. In case you weren't, the product is called Zaino and it is a wax/polish. I used the contraction O' (as in O'Clock) to mean "coats OF Zaino". Read all about my GRUELING Zaino experiment here:

Good thing that Ferrari and Porsche don't try to sell too many of these bland red, silver and black colors. Nobody would dare buy those boring colors in such a sporty car and not stand out!
